Congrats, Melton has a good training program for flatbed. If I recall their 53ft flats are fixed. And most of their trailers are 53ft. You'll do good their, just listen to what they trainers show you. I know several guys over there that have gotten into their custom orders trucks. Once you get to be a million Miler with them they will offer you a truck spec'd to your liking with chicken lights and all. Trucks all have bunk heaters, inverters, and apu's.

Oh and thanks I was gunna ask how there securment training was. The bulk of my very limited securment knowledge is metal coils over 5000 pounds (I still hate that endorsment test)

That spread should have a switch inside the cab, flip it when doing really tight turns. It puts the air out of the aft axle and causes that trailer to sit on it's forward axle as a pivot. Be gentle when turning your aft axle tires will be skating as you come around.

IF you are empty and in the rain, be ready for some kind of slide to one side when braking. A little touch of steering into the slide and reduce your braking application about 5 pounds (Not entirely off the brakes) and she will fall right into line.

Spread axle is good. It lets you thumb nose at Louisana scales with 40K back there. And you can pivot into any parking spot on the planet with those forward axles raising the whole thing with that air dump.

Just don't run the SE, OH, or PA during early mornings.

I DO have to make my stores on time, and don't need someone in a ditch holding up traffic.

    :)

If I recall correctly Melton trains to secure for 100% of the load weight. Dot retirement is you only have to secure for 50%. Melton, tmc, and several others require beyond to avoid issues with not enough securement. You'll do fine
