I spent many nights running to make delivery next morning prior to sunrise.
One of my most epic for flatbedding was overnight from Lancaster PA to Idabel OK, with a load of aluminum coil. I was told it has to be there 8 sharp that monday am and it was there 7 minutes to the good. Ive always felt a little bad with Little Rock because we tore up that 440 back when it was new in those days. Zip. Had a blue beacon wash in Galloway earlier, something like 36 degrees too. But it was clean.
Im just glad i don't have to do silly stuff like turning over 1500 miles overnight. It's not necessary. -
Hmmmmm. Canadian rules. I think I might log it like Canadian rules, and when bear goes WTF if you get an inspection, then just claim fatigue, and you thought you were in Alberta.
not4hire Thanks this. -
Man you guys are way too nice. If I have a run I know I'm going to run out of time at a con and be at their mercy when they decide to kick you off the property tell dispatch that you know you wont be able to run it and leave the facility legally but if they insist on you taking it they will be liable also when you run to a safe haven because youre going to period. then just run illegal to the nearest truck stop when your done. When the safety guy calls to bug you about it say you gave dispatch fair warning and that they ignored you and that you have no intention of ever being a sitting duck parked on the side of the road and that you'll continue to do it for as long as it take them to figure out how to plan loads legally. Let the safety man light a fire under dispatch.

The safety man at my company is the same guy as the dispatch man. He also happens to be the driver. He isn't scared of company policy or tactics. He is more concerned of what FMCSA or USDOT will do when they see the horrendous crime against humanity he has committed. He only wants to follow the rules and earn an honest living while at the same time using his time away from home as effectively as possible. That does not mean running loads at a pace of 1000 miles a day. Therein lies the issue.
Dave_in_AZ and tinytim Thank this. -
1100 miles day. 1000 is for wimps.
-
3 stops in 3 cities too, driver assist.
-
If the shipper allowed parking you could simply arrive an hour and 15 min early, Log your load time and do a 10 art the shipper and still deliver on time.
-
So turn down the load then. There are other fish in the sea.
