Good luck!
FWIW, I'm a company driver. We have 80+ power units that date from 2012-2016. The mechanics that work in the company shop all speak from recent experience when they say that single truck owner operators should never purchase a DPF/DEF equipped truck. The maintenance and repair costs for the emissions systems could and probably will bankrupt them. Only large companies with many power units and good paying contract freight are able to absorb the financial hit of having a truck out of service for a week while spending $5-10K to have its emissions system repaired or replaced. And if your truck is under warranty when it fails, expect your truck to be moved to the end of the line at the dealership. Paying customers take priority over warranty repairs. Can you afford to be down for 1-3 weeks?LoneCowboy Thanks this. -
@windsmith ....
I'm not an owner yet, but you've articulated my "sum of all fears" as I look around for my first truck -

@windsmith..... believe none of what you hear and half of what you see and you'll be all right.
Dave_in_AZ, BoostedTeg, windsmith and 1 other person Thank this. -
Congratulations on your new Volvo! If the truck is still under warranty, make sure you keep your idling down below 25% or the warranty is void and make sure you go by the service advisory schedule Volvo provides. I am sure that truck will give you years of good service.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.
