I just went through orientation and they do have a basic one day flatbed class that'll get you some hands on experience on a few different simulated loads. You'll be doing this with several other people so it's not like what you'll be doing on your own but the instructor was good and make sure to ask questions. You'll learn a lot from doing it yourself and talking to other drivers. They also give you a cargo securement book that has good reference material

    Woobie Thanks this.

Eh that class is nothing if u ask me. I didn't learn much.... My First load was AC unit's out of Louisville and couple driver's came over and helped me and showed me some tricks. Mercer need's to hire driver's with EXP or have a better class(Which is what they are working on).

Man we got some real winners here. I get parked and some van hauler across from me in a beat up older pete walks over and starts jawing about how he had to give up flatbed over a hernia. Story after story of all these great loads he used to pull with that pete that my truck couldn't handle. 68k lb ingots so grossing 100k lbsto the port of Miami with a mercer great dane spread axle.
Finally i got a word in "that's pretty cool considering many states, including Florida won't permit more than 92k on a 5 axle set up." And rolled the window back up and went in the sleeper pulling the curtain shut behind me.

Moral of the story, if ya gonna tell tales keep them in the realm of at least being a possibility. Ya can't bull #### a bull #### artist. I got a phd in that talent.

    That's when you
Have your coordinator set the preferences for the shorter loads, while you look out a longer distance. But never did i say you had too like the new features, i simply stated i like them. I don't set minimums on anything. I simply do an origin and search out to 750 miles. Then i sort thru them,. My wife has always looked for loads, she finds as many loads as either me or coordinator. I get a call, she tells me details, i say commit and it's done. Not saying it's for e everyone but after over 6 years the transition to the new board was just a little bump in the road,. That's just our experience,. That's not saying at all that some haven't had a tougher transition. We just adapted and moved on.

On old board you had only the option for all, van or not van. Then you had to sort thru FD, flat, SD, rgn, k etc. In light of that , i think i will click top of trl column

More power to ya I feel it falls short when I happen to be sitting empty and constantly refreshing my search it's a pain in the xxx to keep typing flat maybe I just type slow so I'll keep doing it like the old board and just look to see if it's flat

. Yes, i guess that gives you a choice though. If you wish to search by specific trailer you can or just do like the old board and look for flat loads. Which is what i do the vast majority of the time, i just look thru em all as i did before. And when i have more time , i may do a specific trailer search. While it would be nice if trailer type could remain the same, it's still an additional option . Some may not know the changes the old load board went thru. For example , showing the board position wasn't always there, that was added well after i came here,. And at one time we could match ourselves to loads in the same manner that we commit or refuse. This one will do the same way, as with anything else, the transition will be easier for some and harder for others, but it will become the new normal very soon. I have said this before , but when we went from trippak mail in envelopes to transflo and trippak scanning and being able to have a scanner in the truck, there was a huge uproar from many drivers,. When the mobile app was made available, same thing, huge uproar, many hated it. Even though it was convenient and made pay much faster. The new system will provide the ability for many new features in future updates,. Today, with ease of sending paperwork it's seems strange that people were so upset about the change. Which will be the same as this hubbub over the load board. It will pass and be a long ago memory very soon.

The trip pak comparison is so bad its hysterical. A better analogy would be they stopped letting us mail in paperwork 3 weeks before they finished the app to allow you to scan in paperwork.
