I run as hard as I legally can at my company, and I average 2500 miles a week, and avg 7.2mpg. That's typically in 5 days, as we're home almost every weekend. In comparison, I see some other guys getting 12,000 miles a month on paper logs, and getting 8mpg on identical trucks.
The ONLY way they're doing that is by cooking the books. We already switched to all Elogs, and the company-wide fuel economy has dropped. Can't just drive all day anymore, gotta GO when it's time to go.

That may be, but that wasn't what I was referring to.
NO driver should ever be canned for refusing to risk losing everything he owns in a civil lawsuit due to cheating on logs, and at a good company that would never happen.KANSAS TRANSIT, rank, brian991219 and 5 others Thank this. -
I fully agree, and I've never had any desire whatsoever to work for a company on paper, because although I'm good at creative writing, I'm not so good with creating alternative storylines.RustyChops41 and Call_Me_The_Breeze Thank this.

The company can change your e-logs if you need
A couple more hours. The driver can't.
I've worked for places that done this.
I wonder if the DOT knows this.Short Fuse EOD Thanks this. -
I'm really hoping that the ELD mandate will push illegal runners out and the companies that run them under. And it's not something personal, rather the hope is that this will force a greater demand on trucks and thus drivers with higher load rates and changes to expectations across the board.
In short, I'm hoping for a profound, positive domino effect.Infosaur, uncleal13, RustyChops41 and 6 others Thank this. -
Say hello to your new codriver. Endo. 2 guys/gals/mmmmhmm. Problem solved. Less equipment.
-
Part of the eLog mandate is the system has to keep a copy of the original record, any changes, who made the changes, and the driver has to certify the changes made.brian991219, JReding and Lepton1 Thank this.
-
Van wyk and Shuster have already been caught doing that .Lepton1 and UsualSuspect Thank this.

I guess the dispatchers or someone in the office is certifying the changes For the drivers then.
There doing this while he's going down the road,
Getting them a few more hours to make it to the customer
Instead of the drivers cheating it's now the company cheating.RustyChops41, driverdriver and bzinger Thank this. -
Yep when I was at van wyk I ran out of hours in Penn. And they magically came up with more hours for me lol.
Was along time ago tho and that don't fly anymore there.Lepton1 and Western flyer Thank this.
