Red light issues...

It's dead.

Ive taken out animals from time to time. Sometimes I have a extra few heartbeats to adjust for a center strike instant no pain kill.

Im such a softie. I love animals. But... sorry it's my truck, my load and it goes through. To do anything else to save a animal? Potentially ramming a house and killing a family? no. Animal either gets lucky and clears the wheels or not. It's what it is.

There are people who are going to do whatever they can not to hit the #### animal. I hope they don't wreck everything and or kill or hurt people doing it.

I have a post regarding a Lab I took out in Texas during a rain storm when surrounded by cars in a total no win situation. That one stands out as one of my bad kills. But it had to be done. Anything else threatens people.

 

What they said But since I HATE stopping what I do is aim for +/- 2mph on posted limit and try to first at most reds and still just rolling barely takes practice(a LOT) that way a clutch and your knee will outlast truck. All the way thru downtown Richmond Va.

 

Kill it.. smash it.. pulverize it. Anything smaller than a moose, hit it.

Better off killing animal and damaging truck than dying.

If you're ever behind me in Marshall, TX, you'll be able to tell it's me by the fact that I stop for green lights, wait for them to turn red and then go when they are freshly green.

I don't play that redlight camera bull####.

 

Today I was at a photo enforced intersection in el paso
Two vehicles in front of me
As I started through at low speed, I looked up and it turned yellow as I crawled through
Nothing I could do
Bet I'll get a ticket.

 

What about a school bus filled with kids. Im taking that wall or over the bridge rail no ifs buts or maybes.

Dense is a form of thinking that... certain things are SET IN STONE and there is no decision making wasted time or agonizing or lost motion. You just execute. If I have to take my rig off the GWB to keep a bus safe. Guess what that 200 foot drop will be a goodie.

I have actually been almost blown off and reacted without thinking on very high bridges before, partly from instinct. My R Model mack with a empty sea can got caught on the open Bay bridge in Maryland in a gust front of a storm. The whole thing ran up against the steel rail and my inside wheels on the left started coming up as she started over. I had the left door out, foot on the fuel tank and on my way to the steel grate deck to hell with that #### truck. It all happened so fast in no time to think. She came back down. Thankfully. But one way or another Im out of there. And no one else will get hurt.

When you face death OTR or local etc several times as I have with about a few seconds to make your last decision and do something correct to save yourself or someone or several children... those few moments to a few seconds is a lifetimes worth of slow time to choose your option and get it done. Otherwise you are dead. Or worse.

Dense certainly. But there is a method to my density.

 

If their is yellow light up ahead I just slow down. I'm not going to risk the trailer that I'm loading to the person, company, or store. Nope, I don't want my good money be gone by destroying their cargo. Don't risk driving fast as you can when you see a yellow light. I know a lot of cars and maybe some trucker's out there do that but they shouldn't.

 

What I do largely depends on how heavy I am, and how close to the intersection I am when it goes yellow. I run dedicated and by the second stop I generally gross over 60k. By my third I'm running 73k+, depending on how much they have to send and how much space I have.

At those weights, if I'm within a vehicle length: #### the cameras. Sometimes you simply can't stop in time without ####ing something up. Air-horn that #### and get out of the way. If, however, there isn't clearance to get through then I'm probably not going fast enough to not be able to stop. Proper following distance and not getting in a ###### hurry while in city limits plays a huge role.

I train, too. Some students really don't like driving cities and it gets to them. I tell them the truth: get over it or get out; it happens sometimes and the safest/fastest way out is the way of being careful, alert, and not rushing ####.
