Heya there fellas i have recently applied for landstar couple of weeks ago sent all the documents they asked for got hazmat/tank and all that was told to register for drug testing screening . According to the lady shes got everything she needed and she sent it over for corp review.
I got my cdl nearly 5 years ago and have been an owner operator for the past 3 years. When i got my cdl i was hitting stuff left and right. I have 2 moving violations that happened and one accident all happened 4 years ago and a few negative dac reports about 5 yearw old. However, last 36 months have been smooth got no tickets nothing on mvr dac or whatever. Was never charged for dui dwi and was never a felon.
What do u guys think will i get approved? Really looking forward to join up. According to landstar requirements i pass under every single one but real question is will they tear me down for something that happened 4-5 years ago?

Antoxa, if they are telling you to register for your drug screen those old issues have already been reviewed and you are approved. Get your drug screen and you should be fine.

When they send your file to corporate (Jacksonville) you've already passed the pre-qualification part. I'm not exactly sure what corporate does though lol. But I think you're good.

I checked out their load board demo for the second time. I have everything ready to go, just need to get my hazmat started and schedule a drug screen. I wasn't real impressed with the loads available in my area that I saw.(Wisconsin) Didn't seem like there was much on the board. Is it just because it was looking at freight for next day the evening before? I suspect that is the case, but it was all short stuff to Chicago area and a load to Ohio for the most part. The person running the demo acted like it was awesome, but I didn't think it was so great for the market.
I would hope that there would be better loads, at least a better selection if you are looking a day or two further out? Am I off base here?

You are not too far off base. Landstar is a different company than most are used to. If you can afford to be patient in the beginning, you have a much better chance of survival. Lots of the good loads do not go on the board, you have to learn who has them, and where they have them. There are good loads that hit the board, but you have to be quick to call and get them, they do not last long. The cheap loads will sit on the board forever, nobody wants them. Hope that explains why you didn't just see good paying loads sitting there staring at you. They have some Good Paying loads, 3.50 - 4.00 mile van loads, but they don't set on the load board, they hit the board, someone calls, the agent takes them off the board immediately so his phone doesn't keep ringing off the hook.
    Hope that helps...

Brokers give good loads to friends and family....or the broker has his own trucks and will feed himself first.
