So general question......Can someone explain the requirements for California.

Are you allowed to run a 2006 or earlier?
    APU is required or not?

Which 2007 + motor is a good motor?

Does the silence mean absolutely no one knows lol? I would have sworn it mean you just couldn't idle in CA if it didn't meet Clean Idle Air, but I also think I've heard you can't cross the state line unless you meet 2007 emissions.

So for reefer,, why does 7 years matter? If it is 10 years old and still clean or 2 years old and blowing smoke, does an arbitrary date make sense? So if you are running a 75 Peterbilt Cabover, are you going to get pulled over?

In California you must have a truck that has a dpf filter. It dose not matter the year of truck as long as the filter is in place. That being said putting a dpf filter on an older truck is asking for problems. The engine was not designed for it and the back pressure causes problems. The only other way to enter is by using the limited use clause which is only good for 1000 mi a year.

To the OP, roll the dice, I haven't seen any enforcement for awhile, and to answer your question, I think it's 07 engine. I have 94 Pete and am running the aftermarket DPF.

Im pushing around 600hp with a tune and a turbo to match it. I put the tune in and turbo. Like building your own performance set up. Plus, I don't have a heavy foot, it's only used when necessary(it's fun to go up a hill and stay on the passing lane). I'm basically set up pretty much max out cause of CARB. I could get a lot more but a man has to know his limitations. :D
