In Arizona we just pay for a new license. No test required

You should be getting your renewal notice and it will tell you what you need to do. Likely you will have to take your hazmat written if you have it and that's it.
They also changed the rules, I think they are finally complying with the real Id act. You will need another form of identification, birth certificate or passport is best, and proof of residency, a utility bill, or, ironically, a vehicle registration.street beater Thanks this. -

Yes, and it sets standards for driver's licenses. California had been one of the last hold outs, not having complied with those standards, now that they are complying, getting it renewing a do in California means proving residence and identity to get the compliant drivers license.brian991219 Thanks this.

Effective May 10, 2017, pursuant to federal law, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will require all new and existing commercial driver license (CDL) applicants to provide DMV with the following:
- Proof of U.S. citizenship/lawful permanent residency/legal presence.
- Proof of residency (domicile).

We have the same thing but, you only need to get the real ID if you want to fly, you don't need to for renewal of driver license.
And you don't need till 2020. -

It's required by federal law. Some states are holding out. But all states are supposed to be making all dls compliant. California is doing so now, so I thought the guy might like the heads-up since my renewal notice didn't tell me about it.brian991219 and driverdriver Thank this. -
So 50 year's with a Ca, License won't prove I'm a resident of Ca, sounds about right. (?) Maybe I should do some home work, think it's time to move
