Was pretty nervous when I had to back into my first dock. I was so proud of myself when I got that trailer backed in...would have been perfect if I'd opened the trailer doors first...

I've done that as well. LOL

I havent done it yet as an OTR driver, but I used to do it all the time when I spotted trailers at a large DC. Even fubared a roll up door when the dock plate ext was still sticking out. Oops!

Carry a few light sticks with you, when you're backing into a dock in the dark and you can't see the lines, pop a light stick and lay it on the line to mark it. This also works when you have to back into a dock inside a building.

Goodonya and great going. Well, everyone has done the trailer door thing....
I always love when there's a bunch of drivers standing around - those that have already backed in - and are watching others backing into the dock. Some sort of ego game - they did it better and that drivers sucks. So what if the driver didn't get it perfect, it doesn't have to be and good grief, find something ELSE to scrutinize besides your fellow drivers! Once you've done it enough, it's more like a machine with pre-programmed software - it's all automatic. Some part of your brain is operating that software - but you don't even notice. -
yup, been there done that, but look on the bright side, all you had to do was pull stright up and stright back, with the doors open this time.

Ha can't lie i have done that myself
