    Exactly,.. bang loudly and assertively.

I understand parking is limited,.. but I'll give the exact same consideration that was shown to me.

I've had this done to me at a rest area. The guy was blocking about 5 of us. All mega's too scared to beat on his sleeper. I woke him up at 5am and told him I needed to leave. "Where do you want me to go?" "I dont care,.. somewhere not in front of me"

Ok, they say confession is good for the soul, so here goes. Last week I pushed my clock down to nothing on a gamble I could get a spot in the Beckley, WV Service area. Ended up being a bad gamble and I pulled up behind and as close to the backs of trailers as I could possibly get, knowing full well there were three trucks I was blocking in. Got out my pad of paper and posted the following note to my drivers side window...

"Driver is a complete moron who evidently cant trip plan worth a ####. Please bang on my sleeper and wake my worthless ### up so I can get this piece of #### out of your way so you can get going."

First driver that woke up to move came and knocked on my window, laughing his ### of. "Driver, that's some funny stuff there." I moved out of his way and was fortunate enough to be able to snag his spot and go back to sleep.

Moral of the story is, crap happens. When it does be prepared to wake up and move.

Pound the heck on the sleeper or wait till he wakes up your choice.Me I would pound and yell on the sleeper till he wakes up and tell him to move it I have done that many times.Don't be shy go tell the jerk to wake up.

I actually do NOT mind being woken up and asked nicely to move. Because I might have to do the same for you. Ive gotten trapped a couple times, the last time was in the old 76 west of Nashville? Or was that east in the valley? They razed that one. But I spent a night nosed in off a curved road and field grass. Someone with a covered wagon instantly parked on that shoulder blocking me in and 5 others. He left the truck off and went inside.

I lost a night there and my company was not happy because they held a whole service bay based on my promise that I will be up there at sunrise. (Which obviously did not happen, EcKMiller in Rockport) as sheer luck would have it I kept that volvo M11 running all that weekend bypassing what turned out to be a actual no *&^% burned up ECM that would have most certainly needed a expensive tow, labor and new ECM. It would have been a total mess. But hey EcKmiller, aka intranet was a Billion dollar per year company, they can toss a few thousand once in a while no problem.

Personally I no longer have any issues with the outfit. They are pretty hard people though that required me to be business hard back to them to win my case in court.

There was an ignoramus similar to that this morning in PA at a rest area. Rather than blocking people IN, he blocked us OUT by not pulling forward into his parking spot. Once I got him to pull up, the rest area was nearly empty at 4am.

I've also left notes when in that predicament, but nowhere near as good as yours.

That's how to handle it. You did err on the side of caution. I was thinking I could back in to get an inch or two from the truck mirror on your passenger side with your tandems to give clearance for your driver's side tail swing. If I could pull this off I wouldn't have to wake up a tired trucker. But your solution was safer and potentially that trucker could pull into a newly available hole to get some real sleep.

Edited to add: I DO like erring on the side of caution. Having spent thousands from getting hit by someone that didn't and then ran away.
