I've said the same thing many times. How f'n long can that stretch from Terre Haute to Brazil take to fix?! I ran that route several times a week the past 3 years and saw a ton of accidents. Was 1/2 mile behind the one in May that incinerated 3 people. The Indiana Dept of Transportation needs to mark that construction better. I was used to regularly running through there and still came up on some unexpected surprises that were very hazardous. Abrupt merges with little or no warning, stopped traffic around curves out of the blue, and people speeding like crazy through there and I rarely ever saw anyone patrolling it and enforcing it. I just started linehaul with another company and thank God I don't run 70 in Indiana anymore. On the rare occasion I may (we have an Indy terminal), it'll be in the wee hours of the morning where the traffic is basically nonexistent and most of the sleeper cabs are at the Pilot for the night and not cutting me off or barreling through there going 67 in a 55...
AVOID WB-i70 for the next 10-15 hours

Even Illinois does a better job of getting construction projects done-in spite of the fact that the state is all but broke. To do the same job it would take IDOT 3,maybe 5 months at the most, if even that long. It might be over budget but it's done!

Ha! There's an overpass on IL 15 outside of Belleville they've been working on since 2013 and it's still not close to done. It's become a running punch-line around here it's so beyond absurd. They built the Stan Musial Bridge on I-70 over the Mississippi River quicker than it's taking IL to do a bridge over a creek and a railroad overpass lolBud A. Thanks this.

I'll agree with that. Illinois has I-70 under construction, too. But Illinois uses a lot of LED warning signs on their construction areas. I never have any issues going through there. But Terre Haute, no led signs and you better expect the worst.mjd4277 Thanks this.

Maybe it's a Southern Illinois thing.lol In Northern Illinois they don't mess around. Look at the I-90 road widening project for example(between O'Hare Airport and Elgin). That's done, save for a few finishing touches. And that's almost 35 miles of interstate. And how long has INDOT been working on that stretch of I-70 between Terre Haute and Brazil?drvrtech77 Thanks this.

There's a four or five mile stretch of I-29 in Sioux City they've been working on since 2013. It's supposed to be done in 2019 or 2020. I cannot figure out why it couldn't be done in a year or two years, tops, other than someone is making a ton of money for stretching it out as long as possible.
It's a perpetual problem of government that when millions of dollars are available, the temptation for the people who are handing out that money to contractors to skim a little for themselves and their friends can become overwhelming unless they went into the job with really strong moral convictions against theft. There are fewer and fewer people these days who think it's always wrong to take money that doesn't belong to you, or at least it seems that way to me.HalpinUout and mjd4277 Thank this. -
