Hi,i got a reefer preload trlr,that was already set on a start/stop 33 i am new to the reefer world,so i kept it like that.I had to swap with another driver...when he checked the bills,he said-we are f...ked.The bills note was to run the load on continuous.The trlr was loaded the day before i got it,and was sitting on a start/stop so how f...ed are we?its a load of some kind of peanuts dip.

 

That driver is being overly dramatic. Put it on continuous and be on your way. There will only be an issue if the temp of the product rises above the acceptable threshold which won't happen if the reefer was running properly, even on start/stop.

The box temp displayed is the temp of the air entering the reefer inlet, it isn't the temp of the actual product. Having said that, use the experience as a lesson to check the bills carefully. That wouldn't help anything for the day before you picked up, but you would have avoided that driver panicking and more importantly avoided the possibility of fingers being pointed at you.

Personally, I just stick it on continuous regardless. Covers myself if the bills don't specify and continuous is what the customer actually wants. Also, dont have to worry about the reefer starting if the battery dies or starter burns out etc.

 

IMO, no big deal. Just change to continuous. Frankly, although I do as the Romans when in Rome, I've never seen big issue of 33, 34, 40. To me you either want the crap frozen or kept cool.

That said, *generally*, non-frozen produce loads are to be run on continuous and frozen loads on start/stop.

 

What Red said. Worst case scenario you end up like some of us, only ever getting any real sleep with a reefer running on the other side of the wall.

Half my family is from there. I lived in Suffolk. Thought about moving back this year because I miss the culture and way of life but the way things are going over there now I dunno. Plus, once you've lived in the states for over 20 years it's hard to go back to that sorta life. Knowing there is a fellow Briton or American in Britain over at Abilene makes me wish I'd have taken the step to sign up.
