There are 84 trucks at my terminal and we have gone more than 200 days without an accident
Things you have to consider is the sheer volume and number of trucks that we actually have on the road coupled with the fact that doubles are Squirrley by nature
Now aside from your generalization - it's also interesting to note that 23 state truck driving champions this year work for FedEx Ground.

No stats, just observations. A few months ago I was heading westbound on I 40 from North Carolina to Tennessee and I saw a FedEx driver aggressively tailgating an old man in a Buick that was slowly passing another truck. He was less than 5 feet off the man's we are bumper and flashing his high beams on and off. It was the worst display of commercial driving I have ever witnessed. He put my life in danger as well as the man in front of him and the truck he was passing. FedEx driver is routinely go too fast for conditions and I see a disproportionate number of their trailers in the ditch with packages strewn all over the place. my contractor had their meeting yesterday morning and I happened to have a sit down with him later (different subject) but we broached that one.

65mph by Aug 28th or don't re sign the contractor agreement
(i'm out west, limits are 75/80 out here, 65 in town and people run way faster than that even in town. (cars))
Some contractors are very concerned that their longer routes will simply use dang near every second of their 11. And of course doors not closing on time totally screws another route with no recovery.
I realize it's not my contractors fault, but it's nonetheless a rather enormous pay cut. (13% for me 74 to 65) with a commiserate increase in risk. (nothing better than being a moving target unable to change lanes because you're moving 10 to 20mph slower than everyone else). I haven't decided how to approach this, but at the bare minimum I think a 13% increase in mileage pay only brings me back to even.
If you want to pretend to be a LTL and crawl along at 65 (or less) then you are going to have to pay like a real LTL. I don't believe this is unfair.seebell6203, CasanovaCruiser, Doublewiggle32 and 3 others Thank this. -
I was thinking about which runs we have out of 406 that will not be possible anymore.
604 Chicago will be tight.
612 Joliette will be impossible (I never accept it anyway since my 2009 and 2011 daycabs are at 65 now).
Bluefield VA is impossible now - and new Stanton PA is a no go. -
