Drive for a mega carrier. They will all tell you. The deer dont pay for the load. Unless your in a National park. Bambi and his family die. It is heartless in many ways. Yet flipping the truck and going to a hotel to find out your fired because you didnt maintain control of the truck can be even more heartless.

Had a doe jump in front of me in a Pennsylvania construction zone. Was just sipping my coffee and like "Oh #### what now?!"
It actually went under the truck and didn't really even do damage. A buck might have been a different story. The doe just exploded on the axles.
Main point though is I don't care about swerving for deer. Depending on conditions and notice, I might apply the brakes a little bit, but certainly not slam on the brakes.Bud A., Bean Jr. and lovesthedrive Thank this. -
I've mashed both. Lol.
Houston! Prepare for impact!Bud A. and lovesthedrive Thank this. -
So far I've taken out 1 deer and 1 jackrabbit-didn't swerve for either one of them.
That's what I call fast food(but not fast enough to avoid getting mowed down by a semi). -
Birds are the ones that I seem to have issues with. Taken out 4 so far.
spyder7723, mjd4277, Bud A. and 1 other person Thank this. -
I haven't hit any deer yet, but quite a few birds and two dogs (one might have been a coyote, it was dark). Oh, and once I found part of a rabbit hanging off my dunnage rack.
I kicked a student off my truck for swerving for a deer, with a bonus hard brake. I had talked to him about it three or four times before he did it. I know it's a reflex, but don't do it! There's a deer guard for a reason! Better to pay $10k to fix the grille than to lose a $135k truck, $50k trailer, however much the load is worth, and my life!
Idiot. No more #### students for me. -
For some reason recently in Indiana 2 birds smacked into my truck.
My company Veriha truck has a big V on the roof. I wondered if some birds think it's another bird lmao. -
Fun fact. A raccoon WILL take out a Crapcadia bumper mount.
Bud A., lovesthedrive and mjd4277 Thank this. -
Just wondering if that is anything like smoking whacky weed.......... grin.
Also fun fact. Avoid hitting procupine! One thing we saw alot of tire repair here in Maine were all the people whom hit porcupine would get flattened tires. The quils are tubes. Get one in your tire and it will go down. Granted porcupine quils take a much longer time (days as opposed to hours)Bud A. Thanks this.
