Got a call from Safety. Not the friendly guy people deal with every day--the guy from Upstairs. Seems my Speedguage sensor has been lighting up his computer like a Christmas tree. Took my medicine and am slowing down. Also let Dispatch know I can't do these harebrained 65mph same day kamikaze runs the planners have been putting on me. Blew my safety bonus out of the water two months running.
Actually got an apology from Dispatch with a promise to look more closely at my dispatches, along with a request for me to do the same and to refuse anything that can't be done legally (which includes considering speed limits). Told her I'd do my best but the easiest thing is to plan me at around 50mph average since my atlas and GPS don't give me speed limit info. She apologized again and said I'm supposed to be dispatched at that speed and if I've been getting faster loads then something went wrong and she'd look into it.
Probably that new planner.
I must cook my breakfast now--have a great day everyone.
I'm baaaaaack!!!!!!!!

What a load of crap. I believe I would flip burgers or anything before I listened to that sheet.

His fingerless gloves would come in handy at the grill. LolEldiablo Thanks this.

What is a speed gauge sensor? Do they not like anything over say 65mph?
Eldiablo Thanks this. -
So you're telling me they don't wear a safety vest and fingerless gloves at the grill?mitrucker Thanks this.

It's an electronic tattletale that samples your speed versus the local speed limit every five to six minutes. If you are six over it messages Safety. They got it because of the insurance discounts. Also since they started monitoring speed compliance tickets have gone way down which has helped the almighty CSA score.
Trucks here are governed at 65 but long downhill runs can put you over in a 70mph zone.
They have it set to give you 5mph over without a violation report.Rugerfan Thanks this. -
Because it's so accurate with all the speed limit changes, etc. What a load of crap. It's too bad some of these companies refuse to let us do our jobs.Captain Zoom, bigred81, Knucklehead and 2 others Thank this.

Playing devil's advocate here--too many idiots barreling through school zones and sleepy rural communities and construction zones, etc. I see more companies using tools like SpeedGuage in the future. Direct result of our demonstrated inability to self police. Some bad actors are wrecking things for the grownups.
