Most likely that feature can be disabled. But all they need to do is measure the distance between two light poles and then check the time they exit frame and there is your speed. Do the calcs each for five poles and that is a solid average to show speed.

I figure if a lawyer is involved it will only confirm what the ecm and satellite tell them. It's already being recorded.

    Spartan0229 Thanks this.

My company doesn't use dash cams to my knowledge, but they have some sort of sensor that tracks the movement/activities of the truck 24/7 and it's actually saved a few drivers butts.

We had a fellow driver at my job get into an accident. The women claimed the driver hit her vehicle and caused her to have whip lash; the "computer" stated the vehicle was at a complete stop at the time of the accident and she actually was the one that rolled back into the front end of the tractor.

The stupid computer is always dinging me for speeding LOL

    Spartan0229 and tinytim Thank this.

While "full coverage" and a 360 degree view SOUNDS good in theory, I don't know that I want a camera showing anything I can't readily see from the driver's seat. Why? Because the jury watching the video doesn't know anything about blind spots, and as such you'll lose credibility if you're trying to tell them the car that's plain as day in your video couldn't be seen. That's why I keep mine nearly centered (where I can reach it) at the bottom of the windshield. Everything it can see, so can I. Sure, it won't catch the person sideswiping me or merging into the side of my truck...but it'll show who had the right-of-way, and whether I moved over into them vs holding my position in the lane or moving away. I'm not out here to become Youtube famous, and only run the camera to protect myself. Sure, occasionally I will catch something interesting and want to share...but even then when I upload the video, I keep it "unlisted" .

    I have a Rand NcNally 300
(recently got it with my loves points)

Only used it once .... it would be
great for making movies out west
or capturing various scenes and splicing them
    together to make a movie

It does have all the crash sensor stuff that triggers
in the event of impacting a solid object or someone
backs into your truck while you are away or sleeping

    PS:Since I have a Apple iPad/iphone I'm looking into apps to use
them as a dash cam ..there are apps for this

I done a lot looking and reading myself. Just wanted a good cam for the money. Have no complaints. Takes good video night or day.
