Landstar or Not

LS has trucking companies within trucking companies. Basically brokers that leech off Landstar and also have their own trucks. The system is politicking and being a suck up to get some of the premium loads. Basically the secret handshake society business model is in full swing at Landstar....and Mercer for that matter.

 

Landstar is fine......I guarantee you most anyone who rails on LS on threads was leased to them and didn't make it. It takes time.... there are no secret handshakes, its about who you know and what they need from you, which is a business relationship.

 

I've never met my #1 agent in real life, the one I get 75% of my loads from. It's funny though, in that I have met @nikmirbre in line at a Wendy's in a Wilco, but not the people that have sent nearly $1.5 million in gross revenue to me over the years. They call me first because I've proven that I'm reliable, can wear PPE without being asked, and will get the job done without whining and crying. Oh yeah, I call, txt or email with status updates. Landstar is simply a middleman between you and its agents. The agents are the ones that control your revenue. If you don't understand sales and marketing, you better read some books. .

 

If you're telling the guy you have to find some special agent under a rock somewhere to get a good load then what's the point where's the freedom? By the time you put time and effort to do that you could have scored the contract yourself directly from the shipper with your own MC. When I'm running a load I'm not doing anybody a favor but now I'm supposed to prove myself to some agent that I can run hard for them LOL, if you're going to do that you might as just be a company driver and make the same money or more and get home on their dime. Remember the key thing they said the company has "SOME" good paying loads out there the company has 10,000 + trucks. "SOME" residents that live in the city of Detroit are multi millionaires.

 

I'm just telling the truth of the way things work, no b.s. If you have the ability to find your own loads, stay in the profitable lanes and not haul cheap freight you can make it at L.S.

On another note, if you can land large Fortune 500 customers direct with 1 truck and your own MC #, you should probably go that route. My guess is you would fit right in with the rest of the herd hauling for brokers for peanuts.
