No, you weren't. Unless you are part of the load, in constant radio contact and have been specifically asked to do something, you are nothing more than another hazard.
Driver, drive your truck... no one else's.LoudOne, IH Truck Guy, Heavy Hammer and 12 others Thank this. -
I agree. I figured he just forgot to turn off his yellow beacon.

Let me know what the rules are I will follow them. Many threads and posts around here have links to youtube videos to help tell the story of the person making the post or thread. My case is a little unique because I am the one not only posting them, but creating them. This is the #1 trucking forum on the internet and I enjoy my time here.

That explains a lot.Dye Guardian, cke, spyder7723 and 7 others Thank this. -
I don't watch your videos or any other YouTube wannabe celebrity, so I will give you the benefit of a doubt that you just didn't know...
(And for anyone else who may not know)
If you were not in radio contact with that truck, you were not blocking and escorting for him. You're creating a rolling roadblock. A bottleneck in traffic. Dangerous situation. If an OSOW is riding in his lane, or hugging the shoulder, GO AROUND HIM or stay directly behind. If he needs more space, he will center the zipper.
(This one goes for pilot cars too) if your driver can maintain his lane and traffic can pass, LET THEM PASS. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT NEEDLESSLY HOLD UP TRAFFIC. It can violate the terms of his permit and a pissed off cop stuck behind the both of you can and will void the permit and write tickets.LoudOne, Heavy Hammer, soloflyr and 9 others Thank this. -
Didn't say that! Just said he didn't post a video about what was wrong with the load in question. If he had I am sure he would have been blasted too. Fact is, what you and he did happens all day everyday. Doesn't make it right. It's part of the job when you're a big hauler. Mainly because guys like you two have no clue of what it like piloting somethings like that. It's not the same as your truck. Just like cars don't understand what it's like when they crowd you.soloflyr, HalpinUout, Razororange and 3 others Thank this.

If I'm passing on a 4 lane (2 each way) I'll run the zipper or center it. It depends how wide he is. I like to rug it and then drop back to cruising speed once I'm 2-3 truck lengths ahead. The last thing I want to do is cause that driver any extra stress.
It should be common sense. I don't like the stupid door swingers passing me doing a half mile faster, or 4 wheelers that hang by my trailer tandems.
Show respect for other drivers and give them room.LoudOne, Tb0n3, Dye Guardian and 10 others Thank this. -
NOnot4hire, Dye Guardian, cke and 4 others Thank this.
