You cannot make a living based on what abouts. You will get nothing done.

Suppose a car did get into that mess. It will be a very heavy (Pun intended) big time mess with truck parts scatting everywhere.

In case you did not understand the video, the highway has a split coming up with a left hand exit for I think two lanes. Where Scottie is in would be a slow lane of his split once he left that 4 lane section and gone away.

I cannot believe Im making a defense of one who knows what he is about and doing, while another who is supposed to be a professional also is feeling overly emotional about the topic.

I think I'll take a break from this thread in case someone says something really outragous. My take away is that the video is there, it's a good video and contains all anyone wants to know about the developing situation. I don't know if you even saw, but Scottie did check that left mirrior from time to time as part of his situational awareness.

So many words, yet so few of them actually convey a rational thought...seems to be par for the course.

I was at Swift for 4 years. They have continual driver training for all their drivers. Drivers will have to watch various training videos every few months for example, if winter is coming they will have to watch a couple winter driving and snow chain videos. Once a year will have to come in and drive the truck simulator where they put different problems in front of the driver and advise on how to avoid crashes. Some of the best drivers out there drive for Swift or they used to drive for Swift.

Oh I would love to see some kind of proof on that.

If you need a video once a year to help you to remember to slow down in snow please give up the keys.

Do they broadcast those videos on electronic billboards?
Might be worth a look see.

It's hard to think what you've said is realistic: based on the dozen or so new pics of swift trucks wrecking posted daily across the Internet.
If said company has "some of the best drivers out there" do you believe that negates the impact on safety that daily fatal accidents bring?

If I get on this cruise ship tomorrow and it catches fire: I won't stand by and tell people how safe a ship it is. People that tell a story unsupported by evidence lose the respect of their peer group. Those are the people no one wants on their lifeboat.

    North Slope (Alaska) drilling rig.

Permits? We don't need no stinkin' permits!

Roads? We don't need no stinkin' roads!

Due to the fact they're not sharing roads with Scott... err, the "driving" public, they don't need to be broken down as much to move to a new lease, so they have the major components mounted on wheels. Similar to rigs I worked on in the Middle East. Also, with the extreme cold the entire rig is hoarded-in and to have to rig all that out and back in would be dangerous and time-consuming.

Here's some more pictures of the same rig and others.

So unsafe. Not even running a high pole. What if you run into a low flying goose?:p
