Speaking from experience, the Dr will either up your dosage to get it down, or if you are on a med and it is the max dosage, prescribe you a second med, and in some cases a 3rd. 60 pounds heavier I was on 3 to keep mine down, I am now on 2, and trying to get it down to 1.
I see a cardiologist annually as mine has always been high. I have also had to change med's when the ones I was on stopped working as they should. If I stop taking my med's mine will shoot up to 219/183. Sad part is, I have lost weight and it has made little difference to my blood pressure, I am destined for taking med's for the rest of my life.

If your blood pressure is over the limits and this is found during a DOT physical and you report being on meds the examiner is supposed to disqualify you to drive. The FMCSA rules state you must have the blood pressure under control while on meds. If it is not you are in most cases not going to get a card and are in a peck of trouble. You might be able to get another physical with a new examiner, however be advised the FMCSA does look for (doctor shoppers).

Can't help how you took the post. It is what it is. If you are taking blood pressure meds and your blood pressure is NOT under control you are not supposed to get a card and once the examiner places this in the Examiner database you are in a peck of trouble. Like I said you might be able to get another physical but if the FMCSA see's you did doctor shop you might never be able to operate a CMV again. The point of all of this is to BE VERY CAREFUL what you write on those forms and try to if taking meds have the blood pressure under control.

Just to be clear about the FMCSA and doctor shopping. It is my understanding (but not confirmed) that when 2 or more physicals show up on the same driver in a short period of time the FMCSA has computer code to flag them. They then pull all the long forms and if the information generally matches your OK, it is OK to get a 2nd opinion if you are totally honest with 2nd examiner. IF however the long forms have substantial differences the FMCSA will pull all of them and disqualify you the driver AND this will endanger your CDL. In the case of high blood pressure and you were not given a card by examiner 1 but was honest with examiner 2 about the first physical and your blood pressure is now below those numbers most likely the FMCSA will let you keep the 1 year card. Again this goes back to my posting of late about being honest!
