The way I see it, whether you're American or Canadian, we are drivers first, and citizens of a country second. It doesn't matter where you live, we are all out here trying to do a job, and a pretty dangerous one at that. We all deal with the DOT, border crossing, unscrupulous shippers/receivers, nasty traffic, and clueless dispatchers. The public already thinks most of us are the scum of the earth. Unfortunately, some folks act like it. In general, the drivers I have met along the road have been very friendly, and even curious about Canada. I have never before been insulted and threatened. For the record, I did not respond to the radio calls.

I have seen plenty of this, from both Americans and Candians. There are some Canadians that like to talk down to Americans, and conversly, there are many Americans who don't have respect for the the Canadians and their culture. Alot of it comes down to the fact that some Canadians can't accept that America(while so diverse among itself), doesn't give a #### what Canada thinks, and doesn't feel it has to please Canada, and alot of Americans can't accept that Canadians have opinions contrary to Americans and choose to run their society under rules they wan't to have.

I think that Canadians should maybe take a chill pill and remember that while we have people talking about "our health care crisis", we provide plenty of medical coverage to those who need it, and have unfortunate people who fall through the cracks, and if your system is so darn great, why do thousands of Canucks come here for medical treatment each year?

And Amercans should remeber that Canadians are entitled to their own opinions. Hell, we have 50 different states that rarely agree on anything, why should we feel that that we need them to fall down orgasming with everything we decide. And before we jump on Canada for their loose imigration policy, maybe we should address the 20 million illegals we have in our country.

And maybe we should all remeber that we are very important to each other. My neighbor(neighbour for you loyalist canucks) may paint his house in a pathetically disgusting urine yellow color(again, colour for you democracy hating loyalists(lol)), but what threatens his home, threatens mine.

I've heard some anti Canadian crap on the radio. I've heard some anti American also in Ontario. I take it about as seriously as anything else on the radio.

That grafitti on the Challenger is pretty sad though and the managers reaction blows me away.

lol I'm convinced of this much:

Most of the trash talking is blowing off steam, but the one's serious about it are pissed because they got too much crap on their record to go into Canada.

Actually, I've learned more Winter tips from ya'll up North and just more about BSing on the radio from the 'tards out here in the Lone Star State and I've lived here for 10yrs now (Texas). You can hear Radio Rambo gunning up and down here from Tennessee just picking targets and seeing how mad he can get 'em. Don't pay 'em any attention if it bugs ya otherwise just enjoy shootin' the bull and give it right back.

I have actually related this story to a few drivers I've had the pleasure to meet over the course of the last few weeks. Every last one was just flabberghasted at the TS manager's attitude.

Well you find idiots working every where and that particular idiot manages a truck stop. I figure it this way, most likely those jerks you heard on the cb and the ones that painted your friend's truck most likely weren't born here in Texas. They probably moved here from New Jersey, or maybe California. :biggrin_25525: Just joking!

There are jerks every where. I know I get sick to death of people moving to Texas and then bad mouthing us, the people, the state govt., the weather, whatever. When I move to AZ I'm determined to never speak badly about the place no matter how homesick for TX I get. I know a number of Canadians and well yes, most do insult TX but I just chalk it up to the fact they come from a place so cold it most likely froze their brain. :biggrin_25525: Oh just joking again!

Chin up Canuck! It could be worse you could have to drive into Arkansas!

    Nana

P.S. You're welcome in my part of Texas.

When was the last time you rode into TO? I hear Americans trashed all the time, which is why I run with the cb off most time. I've had a American driver talk trash to me, all I did was give it right back. I was hoping to raise his blood pressure and induce a heart attack. I've also sat next to a Canadian driver and listen while he lectured an American driver on American politics. That happened in VA, how arrogant do you have to be to sit there and tell someone they don't understand their own political system. I was surprised the guy didn't get hit.

When I'm in the US I mind my own business, and avoid political discussions. No matter where ever you go you run into #######es.

EDIT: What TS was that manager from? Just want to know so I won't go there.

TO is horrible on the CB, it's mostly attacking 'rag heads' though.
