To answer my own question, I got a call from a recruiter from Baylor after I completed an online application. They told me that the guarantee of a $1,000 minimum pay per week is an obsolete promotion. I was pretty disappointed, but I didn't hang-up just then. I asked what they could offer. The person I talked to told me that they could offer me $0.38/mile and if I run HAM and stay out for 21 days, I can gross just over $900/week.

It's funny how a company who wears it on their sleeve how "Christian" they are isn't willing to acomodate someone who wants to go to church once in a while.

I was a little insulted and learned everything I needed to know.

Indiana is one of the worst states in the whole USA.

    I want a union job.

There you go....you just learned the most usual "condition" of 'guaranteed pay'. With these companies that offer a set minimum weekly pay, they want you to live in that truck and not go home.

No. Not after that "bait and switch" move the recruiter pulled.

Baylor Trucking , has a policy , If you quit within your first 60 days they keep $750.00 of you pay for cost to them for orientation . I knew it was a shady company when on the first day in their offices they have you sign a paper saying this . I thought well just how bad could it be ? So after my first week and being shorted on my pay , i called and was told it was a simple mistake , in their favor as always , then after sitting at a dock at Tropicana in Cincinnati for 5 hours and not having my trailer touched , i called Baylor and was told that , We have to give them the load back , and to go to Chicago for a load in the morning . So having less than 4 hours on my drive clock and having to drive through Indy at rush hour and not getting in my ten hour break , was told to pick up in Morton Grove Il and then go to Louisville Ky for a 9 am delivery at the UPS hub hauling over a million dollars worth of Pharmaceuticals. Well , i thought these people could careless about their drivers and told them that they would have to fire me , because i was not gonna lose my CDL because they don't know how to run their business . Well , they did and kept $750.00 of mine . So they should have said on the paper work in orientation , if you quit or are fired they charge you $750.00. So if anyone in the under world cares to know . Baylor Trucking hauls million dollar loads of drugs down I-65 to louisville Ky every Thursday and Friday to the to the UPS hub on the outer loop in Louisville Ky .
