Oh yeah, I wasn't telling you not to do it. I was saying for me. I have a really short wheelbase and a short slide on my fifth wheel. I have a flat, but with the headache rack, fifth wheel is essentially fixed. It's all the way back and I have very little clearance on the front. Because of that I've seriously thought about getting it, but I've never had an issue weight wise on my truck axles and only a handful of loads that required front over hang that I was interested in. To me, that didnt justify $600

You and me both. Center punch, oil and good quality sharp bits.Born n' Bred, The_Gambler, spyder7723 and 1 other person Thank this.

I didn't take it that way.
My fifth wheel is a short slide also, 12 inches I think. I think king pin location all the way rearward is just forward of center between the axles. -
How fast was it getting in and out of the port of Newark for you today?
-
Yep. And a frame rail isn't even a hard metal. Of all the things around a truck you would drill, it's one of the easiest. Now stainless... that's a ##### to drill.Born n' Bred, Airborne and 1951 ford Thank this.

The trick to stainless is to start with a good sharp bit and maintain an even steady pressure all the way through. If you ease up before you're through (like to break the chip off), you will almost always knock the cutting edge off the bit.Born n' Bred and Airborne Thank this.

My KW frames were easy to drill thru. I don't know what what's so different about a WS, but it's almost as bad as stainless.CJndaTruck Thanks this.

What kinda of drill bit should I get to drill the frame?
-
The belt ( not sure which one ) is squealing, they are tight not loose... I was reading online to avoid belt dressing... Have it replaced?
Airborne Thanks this. -
Any good quality titanium bit will work.
Drill bits are like anything else, you get what you pay for. If its a set of bits for 10 bucks they are garbage and will dull before toy get 1 hole drilled. You can usually find a set at home depot or lowes for about 30 bucks. Milwaukee is a decent brand.1951 ford and TruckerPete1990 Thank this.
