Big companies will survive, because they have multiple team trucks for repower options. Say buhbye to the solo OTR trucker......

I just don't understand this argument so forgive me if I'm a bit dense. My husband does combo reefer and dry van and is governed at 65 and has gotten well over 3,000 miles a week for the last 6 weeks except for 1 week all on elds with a smaller company, company driver. What am I missing here.

    Please explain to us How?

The "real" Truckers that Know the Business,Know the Streets,Know how to dress,Know how to COMMUNICATE,Know how to sell their business to customers..Will ALWAYS outshine any Mega carrier hiring Sheeple and 21 y/old kids that know Nothing.

The Majority of the Industry Has a Carrier base of 10 trucks or Less-Out of that 70% are independent truckers,And Most of Them Know how to get the Job done Right.

Scottie- We all know how you like to get down with your videos and what not with your mega-mentality- We all Like you too- But stop right now in your tracks before you embarrass yourself.

I think he was referencing the fact that owner operators / smaller companies are now going to have to give themselves longer allowances at customers due to the fact that you will now not be able to move from the dock past their 14.

Even if they can move from the dock, they interrupt their break and now must wait another 10 hours before they can refresh their clocks.

Your available freight is going to shrink significantly due to these types of inefficiencies.

The mega carriers will somewhat have the ability to do repowers and or drop and hook setups that the smaller companies and independents simply won't have.

So what exact benefits does AOBRD have over the new ELD?

good question. I will try to explain. According to mega-drivers up to 25mph before triggering drive mode. The office can play with driving time and make you legal. This is what megas are doing now. In inspection mode AOBRD does not create graph in some devices. it just shows times(Driving, sleeper berth, off......)

A lot of drivers can't drive 600 miles in 14 hours, they want to stop and nap and eat and look at chrome and watch CSI and nap and then on their "4 hour" 10 hour break they redo the log page to make it look legal.
    .
ELOGs will separate the men from the boys real quick.

    I'm sure it will-

Tucker- When folks get older- Its Hard on the body cramming 10-11 hours of driving into a continuous 14 hour day- Yes,We like to stop n take a nap for an hour or 2- It Helps.

Yes the E-logs will certainly Change the way we do things- And its NOT for the Better- It will have so many tired drivers Looking for parking- Crabby demeanors.....It wont be good.

And again from other threads- We don't advocate Illegal Running at all- I'm against overworking 100%...
But give me flexibility in my day if I want to Sleep-Or grease my truck or Play with some hooters-etc

I believe in the ol' adage-Work Smart not hard- But putting an electronic clock on me at my age is not Healthy- Not for Most folks. And many will agree.
