Well, you know, if that traffic were not there then the fool would not have hit it. He is probably going to sue over that!:3some::biggrin_25524:

No that is well past the gorge. This happened right at the AZ/NV state line, just outside of Mesquite.

Not only did the article say mm 22, but I copied and pasted it. Just another brilliant piece of work by the news media. There is no way that it could have been mm 22 in either Arizona or Nevada. Nor could it have been mm 2.2...
OK, looks like it could have been close to mm 122 in NV, according to Google maps.

I dunno why mistakes like this grate on my nerves. I suppose it's because of my past history of the media totally screwing up things, in cases where I was there, and knew what was going on. Cops and media, don't get along just real well.

As I've learned in this case, thanks to another post, it doesn't... because it was a 45 mph zone where this happened.

Had this happened on an open hwy where the speed limit was 70 for example, it plays into the argument from both sides who say that, "by slowing trucks to 65, 60 or 55 in a 70 mph zone saves lives". The other side says that "by slowing trucks to those speeds on roads with higher speed limits increases the chance of accidents".

For lowered speed limits, I agree they are stupid, however, the overtaking vehicle has the obligation to drive as conditions dictate, and drive within his or her capabilities.

This is regardless of whether the slower vehicle is a mega governed at 65 or not.

Everybody knows trucks are big and slow and drive accordingly... except for the morons that rear end us.

    How about half witty sarcasm?:D
I thought we got that all cleared up. This was NOT in the gorge. It was at the NV/AZ state line right out of Mesquite. Speed limits are not reduced there, (unless there is construction going on that I'm unaware of.)

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Well, then my fault again.... Since I started something I couldn't finish, I had nothing else to contribute to the thread, so I havent been back until I received a notice of RRs quote today. Admittingly, I posted my last post without reading the posts between my last two.
