Sounds like you hosed yourself by not having a proper pre purchase inspection done. No truck dealer is going to knock payments off once you sign. That stuff has to be negotiated before the sale is final.

I actually do mention that in the youtube video. EXTREMELY inexpensive education for over 25,000 youtubers and counting. But on the other hand, what about Lone Mountain's pre-purchase inspection when they bought it from Western Express?
Lone Mountain is said to have done it a few times. And there are in fact instances of other companies doing it too.Last edited: Sep 28, 2017

What YouTube video? Link it.slow.rider Thanks this.

Dealers don't do purchase inspections on large lots from carriers. They get a cursory glance and that's that. These are wholesale purchases. Many times purchased without ever being seen.thaistick Thanks this.

Sort of like when you drop a loaded trailer at a consignee and they hand you a signed bill even though the trailer hasn't even been unsealed yet. But if you look close you'll notice that they cleverly added the catchphrase "subject to verification" with their siggy.Last edited: Sep 28, 2017

Yeah, I gotta agree with @spyder7723 on this one.... Lone Mountain allows you take their truck off site for inspections and actually encourages it.
Chalk it up as a learning experience, albeit an expensive one.CJndaTruck and RStewart Thank this. -
The trick to surviving in this game is when you do something stupid, use it as a learning experience and don't do it again. When you keep doing stupid over and over and over again, your in trouble.
easytopleez33, CJndaTruck, spyder7723 and 4 others Thank this. -
That's according to the website, but it's a rather different ballgame when you're sitting in the sales office. They will walk you thru this step and that step and the step after that, but there is no point when they say "now the next step is for you to go and get your full independent inspection."
You have to interrupt their process, put your foot down and make it happen yourself. I get into that in the video, going so far as to explain when and how people should do that.
But I would also reiterate the question posed earlier: what about Lone Mountain's inspection when they bought it from Western Express? Lone Mountain has a full fledged shop on site. Do they have a clue what they are selling, or do they not? -
Exactly. At this point it's still much cheaper than a college degree.
