I have no problem with union drivers period !
And if that is what works for them then hooray for them!
I just like like running my own show and running a nice clean truck .
To each his or her own .
I still have union friends and friends we remain .

Your sort sighted foolish views are just what companies have come to expect from their drivers.

Compare your "good job" to a good job a generation ago, you're making less now and you only have yourself to blame.

Money isn't everything. Please note that I did state other concerns. I will gladly give up some money to avoid more rules and additional people telling me what I can and can't do.

The fact that I think unions are mostly worthless in today's world of social media, green cards, and work permits is just one of many of my concerns.

I stand corrected on that. However, the stock of YRC was worth virtually nothing and new stock was issued. I seem to associate when common shareholders are wiped out, then they did go bk. But you are correct and I apologize for the misinformation.

Save that post, 10 years from now when you're earning even less for the same work you can tell yourself money isn't everything.

Union ltl fell apart with deregulation, companys had there ICC "rights" leveraged with deregulation the rights became almost worthless, the banks called the notes and many had to fold, and some just had bad management. Now as long as we're asking questions twice I'll ask you again did CSPF take a cut or is it proposed? last I heard everybody got a check.

No, cspf hasn't actually cut pensions. Why did the Treasury department deny the planned cuts? Because the cuts wouldn't have come close to guaranteeing the plan solvency.

Yes, deregulation was a major change. Companies need to be able to change with times. Look at Nummi - a plant reopens after a few years and is quickly producing more cars with a lower defect rate. When GM tried to take the same operational strategy to other plants the Unions kicked up a fuss.

Unions aren't the only reason GM took it on the chin for decades, but they were a continuing issue. The math behind pensions is that the company will always be the same size or larger, and that people will die by a certain age. That's not the way the economy works (see Schumpeter). Massive pension payouts have hamstrung employers and contributed (please note I say contributed not caused) lower wages today.

I believe a company should pay me a wage and that's it. They shouldn't have pensions/retirement plans or health care plans. Why should my employer have any say over my life outside of work? We've made an overly complex system that hides true costs and contributes to the growing inequality.

It's called a compensation package, it's the same as every executive in the corporation gets ( they also have contracts spelling out the corps obligation them) it's what you do to attract a superior workforce, as opposed to those that will settle for what you give them. Being in a union or receiving a benefits package does not give either any say in your life outside of work
