getting pissed over courtesy

Sandbox haulers and water haulers. BY FAR the most mentally disturbed. At least most of them around here are. They have the full 6 pack, but lack the plastic thingy that holds them together.

 

Oddly enough I did the same as the OP, moved over so a DOT truck could get on the freeway, he merged into the lane, sped up and sat right beside me so I could not move back over. I slowed down, he slowed down, after traffic was backed up behind us, he honked, gave me the middle finger and sped off. I shrugged it off, life is too short and while it was annoying, karma will eventually catch up to him.

 

This is what I do when I get on the freeway, and someone moves over to let me out. I accelerate to about 55 or so and hold until he gets past me and is able to get back over in the right lane. If he's slower than me, I'll pass him when safe. If he's faster than me, then off he goes down the road.

I'm governed at 64, and it irritates me when I move over as a courtesy gesture, and then they come out and ride right along side or SLOWLY pass.

I did let one guy have it, though, a few weeks ago on the CB. He did the old, "ride along side and pace me thing'. Of course I had built up a parade behind me pretty quick. I told him the next time I see him coming down the ramp, I'm going to hold my lane and make him slow down to get on the freeway. Of course he got all defensive and pissed off...

 

This is why I would much rather drive an ungoverned truck. It's easier to get on the throttle and get ahead, then ease on back to whatever your cruise control speed was. If the trucker decides your cruise control speed is too slow, it's easy to kick out of cruise when he initiates the pass and slow down 5-10 mph and let him get by efficiently.

Then there are ##### heads.

 

There are a lot of azzhats that drive trucks out here, don’t let it ruin your day.

 

And this is why I rarely move over a lane to allow someone getting on the expressway. I've got hung out in the left lane way too many times. Both by 4 wheelers and trucks. Which is even more annoying when it's a 4 wheeler. Split sped in MI and all that....

 

I think honking the horn & waving hands is the traditional "my goat is sexier than your goat" in Somali & Serbian.

 

You also gotta remember most of these guys were driving 4 wheelers last week.

 

I had another trucker give me the finger when I moved over to let him merge. I'll admit it was a stupid thing to but it was so god #### funny. I tilted my shoulder to the left and then right and jerked the truck towards him for a split second. He swerved into the shoulder and slammed the brakes. Oh he thought he was going to get me back by trying to come in front of me and brake checking me but my fuel stop just came up! Lol!
