We had a old late 60's era mineral oil step down can on top of our service drop to our home. The Electric company said that there was approx 8000 volts available with a huge amount of amps I can never use (Max is about 110 amps draw with everything on....)

One day squirrel got up there onto the fuse can. KABOOM. Lit the place like God's Polaroid camera flash. It was not much to put that fuse back in and the charcoaled critter buried. It basically exploded his skeleton and charred it too internally.

Years ago during a rather dark time in life pre-trucking I was a flagger protecting linemen. We had a job where there was some really big time power for part of a city off what I recall as a pair of 128KW lines.

I hear "RUN YOU *&^%" then I hear this frying. The ground was wet from rain. I had a good pair of boots on and don't think I touched the ground for about a mile. That frying did not stop until one of the ground transformers went. When that one did, it generated a green tower of fire lit the entire valley which instantly after a pause went dark about 20 miles this way to 20 miles that way it seems.

To this day I wondered about that electricity traveling along the ground in the wet. Not something I wanted to think about too much.

I witnessed a deer get drunk on a sour apple tree dropping the stuff all over the ground.

    Lucky thing....

It has nothing to do with berries I suppose but it is what it is.
