When all the websites that have the nasty reports on K and B And such Drivers should take a few minutes out of their time and research this company because while just a few complaints maybe enough to pass over what is being said about the company but this company has a long list & history of pulling Stunts like this and treating drivers like a piece of garbage.... Why would anybody go work for this company? I wouldn't work for them if they were the last Company on the face of this planet.... As far as I'm concerned they are a predatory company...

Why didn't you wait until they routed you to their yard and then found a way a home? I'm sure it would have been cheaper and less aggravating them dealing with all that police, hotel, dumpster, and other drama.

One of the reasons I love this site: the flat tire re-direct to a T/A idea - brilliant.
    You guys crack me up.

    [
Did that once too! Have to get creative / no way in HELL am I staying in a truck longer than I have to!
QUOTE="REO6205, post: 6593791, member: 137130"]There's another option too. U Haul will rent you one of those little moving trucks, sometimes for less than Hertz or Enterprise will charge for a car.
We had to do that one time out of LA when all the rental cars were either spoken for or too expensive for our budget.
Hey, it ain't stylin' but it will get you home. And you can return a UHaul just about anywhere,[/QUOTE]

    True-
But limit your possessions so that they’re easily replaceable - who cares - let KB deal with it. Move on - bigger and better things to follow OP

Hmmmmm blew your stack, screamed at the dispatcher and hung up on them.....at most places that can and will get you fired..... the better step would’ve been to go up the ladder.

Also.... all that stuff is excessive for Qualcomm? Every company that has a messaging system will require a set of messages to be used while on a load.

Also you drove the truck home without permission or routing instead of asking to be routed to the terminal and securing your own transport home. I hate to say it but if you just take the truck home, or leave it somewhere that’s abandonment. EVERY SINGLE COMPANY OUT THERE WILL PUT THAT ON YOUR RECORD.

Granted I never liked K & B, I’ve witnessed stupidity by their drivers in the past and their reputation isn’t the best, but what you described above could’ve been handled way better. I’ve had complaints that I had to deal with in my current company but they got resolved. And I didn’t have to scream into the phone and hang up on them.

It’s funny that I hear and see a lot of complaints by former drivers of companies where they “told them to come get their #### truck” and then act all alarmed when they see money deducted to cover the cost of recovering the equipment, and that “abandonment of company equipment” on the DAC and refused by other companies. Believe me if I owned a fleet of trucks and a driver pulled that garbage I would’ve been on the phone to the cops. I’ve had companies in the past where I left where I got screwed around after giving a 2 week notice but I still delivered the load that was on it, brought their equipment back, cleaned it out, and even had a couple of those outfits begging for me to come back.

It should be common knowledge in this industry about abandonment but I guess it’s more of a spoiled new generation coming into this industry.

I've been at k&b for over a year now and still to this day have not experienced what the OP is talking about. In my honest opinion I believe that people want to make money and not have to work hard for it. We work 80 hrs a week give or take some and make more than alot of people doing physical back braking work at 80hrs. We ain't wine tasters or flute players, we're #### blue collar truckers. Alot of yall need to grow some balls, use common sense, and quit whinning.

If your idea of success is working 80 hrs/wk, more power to you.

There is specific guidance from the DOT saying discussing work assignments on the phone with dispatch need not be logged as on duty. So if you go on duty just to screw with them they can fire you. That's very bad advice. If you could do that then just never go off duty, never leave the truck stop, collect your 2500 miles and laugh all the way to the bank. No, you just get fired. They have every right to expect you to be available for 70 hours of work in 8 days. You can't just log on-duty time because you don't feel like it.

What you can do is log the time in the dock as on-duty. You are actually legally required to do that unless you are relieved of all work duties, allowed to leave the facility and given a specific time to return. Assuming your issue is simply fatigue and getting adequate sleep then simply logging coming out of the dock will do that. The worst they can do is use 2 in the dock as part of a split but you get 8 hours to sleep. If you're doing a split then you have a load assignment so there's no reason for them to interrupt your sleep. With that 2500 guarantee and you unlikely to get more it has no impact on your pay or their earnings. It just forces them to schedule you differently. Your miles will likely go up as they hand those loads to someone fool enough to let them do that and give you better load assignments.

With the getting home to unload you should have done that before giving notice. Failing that you should have made a formal request for home time with the required lead time and that lead time between coming off home time and your last day. They said in orientation if you gave two weeks notice they would route you by home to unload. As long as they can reasonably do that they have a legal obligation to do so. If they fail in that you can bill them for reasonable expenses to get you and your stuff home just the same as they can with recovering their truck. If you have your ducks in a row such that you'll clearly win a lawsuit they'll pay it. If they actually lose a lawsuit they have to pay your legal expenses so it's whole lot cheaper to pay a claim they'll lose. Even better is just route you through home.

I feel bad that you truckers have to put up with the nonsense from your dispatchers. Why have a mandated 10 hour rest period when it can be interrupted at any time by dispatch. I was lucky to have a job as an airline pilot where our rest time was inviolate. If one of our dispatchers interrupted our rest period they had hell to pay because our clock just got reset. The only time I ever saw this rule go unnoticed was during 9/11 when we did whatever necessary to get our planes rolling again.
Safety is the major thing we strive for as a professional. I realize we had a strong backing that you don't enjoy and that of course was having a union to protect our rights. You now see cameras in some trucks. The FAA tried it in ####pits but it didn't fly--pun intended! Be safe out there.
