How about using your butt cheeks to clamp down on the drive cam and rip it out of the truck as you leave? Mature or ingenious? Hmmmm
-
If it's such a problem, they should put the cameras in cars too. People learn bad driving habits in cars. They bring these bad habits into trucks.
Stop it at the start and it will never become habitual.longbedGTs, InTooDeep, stwik and 2 others Thank this. -
Always an interesting topic. It seems people get accustomed to them quick enough.
What I would like to know is why Swift turned them off.
No doubt it wasn't just single reason but you can be darn sure that how it affected the bottom was the predominant factor. -
Personally, I really don’t care. If someone wants to watch me pick my nose or pull my underwear out of my ### crack, have at it. My phone is in a windshield mount that is invisible to the camera, and I toggle through songs I don’t want to hear with the radio itself. Text messages are usually read but never answered until I stop. We are free to flip the seatbelt off when maneuvering in a tight parking lot. I honestly have little to nothing to hide, but I would like to know when I’m being watched.
I’ve since been covering the camera at nap time. We’ll see what happens with that. -
1) Swift recruiters could not make their quota. They couldn't get meat in the seats fast enough to replace the folks jumping ship with the drive cam.
2) Too much of staff time was spent micromanaging drivers. Despite, the exclamations stating it couldn't be done, dispatchers and safety staff was spending too much time watching drivers drive. It is easier to sit around and watch the show then do the work of dispatching.Last edited: Dec 1, 2017
MACK E-6, scottied67 and TripleSix Thank this. -
A Swift driver reported they fired him for following too close (he was gaining on a truck and closed the gap before making his pass, I think we've all done that to limit the passing time) and for not wearing his seatbelt at a customer while holding his phone-- he had checked into a customer then jumped back in the truck to move to the dock area, the cameras caught him, which is interesting because, "oh we can't see you unless....."Last edited: Dec 1, 2017
tinytim and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
Swift turned off driver facing cams and then up’d their governors to 65mph. I have to admit I hope other companies like mine do the same. If Swift can go 65mph, we should go 67mph.

Good. Couldn’t happen to more fitting scumbags.Toomanybikes and longbedGTs Thank this.

I wonder if they had incidents where there was an accident, that was not the fault of their driver, but the inside cams showed the driver distracted in some way, on the phone or otherwise, and that shifted liability onto them, at least partially, where it would not have otherwise been on them.tinytim Thanks this.
