It don't matter how many times I pull up, as long as I get the trailer where it needs to be. I really could care less what the other drivers think of my backing skills.

Everyone was once a "Rookie"...just that some will never to admit to it...
-
Been there, done that.
-
been there, I had to blind side in, the guy in the next dock helped me on the cb. then I had to pull out to open my doors and back in again. Then he pulled up and opened his doors.
-
That's a good idea
-
You both forgot? Lol. I pull a flatbed now, no doors to open, no docks to back into!
-
Sometimes I will purposely leave the doors shut until I can straight back into the dock. If its really narrow, I dont want to risk the blind side door coming un latched while manuevering into position. Bungee cords also help hold a door open.
Of course, all is null if theres not enough room to pull up and open the doors.
-
Bungees are always good to have around, especially on the rare occasion a door has a chain or hook missing. But don't hold the door open by hooking the other side of the bungee to the tandem holes...because if you slide the tandems...
-
Me too get to thinking about backing it in and think ohh #### forgot the doors. And one thing I figured out fast, back in school it was fun seeing if we could get the trailer in without any pull ups, but in the real world take as many as you need as long as you dont hit anything that is priority one.
Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
It is good your trainer let you learn that lesson. You will remember it better tham him reminding you before you start backing.
