Right! My uncle had a cpl#1280.....that dam thing got to where it smoked like an old freight train all the time. Even at idle. I finally said something about deleting the STC stuff and building it to a regular NTC 400. Ended up with a scored liner before we ever made it that far with it. He got rid of it and bought a truck with a red top N14.

    10-4.

I used Chelsea 489 series until this new truck. Parts man I deal with talked me into trying a Muncie TG series. It's my first one. I think the Chelsea cast iron housing is more durable, but the Muncie is all aluminum housing. At first I didn't think I'd like it, but after setting it up....i like it. It's super simple and the aluminum won't rust.

Time will tell if the Muncie TG outlast the Chelsea 489. I do like the Muncie air shift mechanism better though.

I'll bet it weighs half of what the Chelsea is? I hope it works out for you in the long run.

I would love to take this apart in the field to see what's going on, but I have to drain the transmission fluid to do anything to it, so it'll have to wait till I get home to tear into it.

Lately I had been getting a ticking noise in the transmission while going down the road before this thing stuck in gear, so not sure what I'm in for.

Stopped Peterbilt in Little Rock to get some stuff I had ordered, an ign tumbler with my key code, emissions label for my valve cover, shocks ya know simple ####. The now store manager sold Zip Code to me what seems like a life time ago. While I'm breezing with the parts guys he is out side looking my #### over unbeknownst to me. Calls me in his office and offers me 25k trade on a new 389. For a couple seconds I had that memory of me Dad picking up Zip Code. It said I had made the big show. Dad grumbled and said be careful but when I said I was going to get it he said let me get my boots on lmao. I walked around a couple, don't even look like Peterbilt to me. So I piles my ### up in my ol rag a muffin with my parts and left.

Dash on newer trucks looks like a sports car to me. Looked at newer trucks all sported up down at MATS, just didn't do it for me all lowered against the ground IMG_4207.JPG . And I'm not saying they were not NICE trucks because they were! Just not my cup of tea. My O'l bucket of bolts is actually to New for me. Guess that's why the Transtar keeps haunting me? It keeps screaming out "Put me to work".....
