Hey Vinny, how do they do the regional operations, if you know?
-
Congrats! Are you starting at Morris or another office? Do you have bulk experience?
Long johns. Dress warmer than you think you should.
Take notes.
If this is your first time doing bulk as it was mine get ready to be challenged. I had a rough time as I think most guys do but everyday you will pick up little hints and tricks-of-trade that add to your mental tool box.
Always be ready to be out for the week because you never know what one run might lead to, unless you are dead set on being home everyday. That is one of my favorite points is that the runs vary from in town to wherever so there's some flexibility. Personally I like to be out most of the time during the week and home on the weekends. I have had very little problem keeping that schedule.Roady87 Thanks this. -
I work out of Columbus, Ohio. We have lots of runs in state as well as the surrounding states. Primarily you are classed a local or system driver. The difference being local drivers return to the starting point most days.
We have an office in Decatur which I've ran out of a bunch of times. They treated me well even when my truck had problems running a local for them. I ended up in their spare for a couple weeks. That thing was a beast.TaterFox Thanks this. -
I'll be able to start the hunt after next week if all goes well

I guess I should ask, starting out, do you only get access to certain loads like a load board to bid on, or is it first come first serve. No haz at A&R?
-
Are you experienced or coming out of school?
No HM
Dispatched loads catered to your preferences. Not perfectly but close. -
I'm experience in Van, flatbed, about 7 years total, been out of the field for a year due to insurance squabbling and medical, should be cleared soon. Can easily get my hazmat but that's only if I land a job that requires it, already got twic. No accidents, clean dac/mvr

I'd say throw in an application. I don't know their requirements other than what you'll see posted on the web site. They worked with me a little when I was hired so have good explanations for the break in service as well as any questionable lines on the app. This company needs good drivers, its tough at first but you gotta stick with it and go back to the training. Hell I called my trainer this week because I was dealing with something I hadn't seen yet. It happens. We are a team and no one will leave you hangin.
Good luck.TaterFox Thanks this. -
I'l be working out of the Morris, Il terminal. Have 12 yrs of driv8ng experience non with a pneumatic. But a year experience in a liquid tank. So I'm really excited and am ready for the challenge. After 4 yrs at working for a mindless company and havnt really had to think about much but how long an 8 hr shift takes. I'm super ready for the this.
