I was at my local Freightliner dealer just yesterday in Augusta, GA and MAG purchases all of their trucks from that dealer. My salesman knows the owner quite well from previous conversations, a real stand up guy and he does order all of the trucks as an O/O spec truck. Hard loaded with big power and all of the comforts that you would expect.
I too have been looking for a new home and MAG is on my list after the new year.
MAG Carriers. Need current info on them.

I am looking hard at Mag as an O/O. I have a partner with an older truck, so I called recruiting today to see if they had any restrictions in the age of the tractor.
The only requirement is that the tractor pass a DOT inspection. In addition, if you bring a reefer trailer to run with them, the reefer can't be older than 10 years.
I spoke to "Janet" in the recruiting department and found her to be most helpful.Ringo1 Thanks this. -
MAG is very serious about their DOT safety rating so any out of service violation on equipment will result in termination of lease within the first year leased to them. As a new leasee, you are required to have your truck and trailer DOT by MAG approve shop every 90 days. After 2 months, they will bug you to have inspection done. If equipment pass DOT, MAG will pay for inspection. If you get any DOT violations from roadside inspections, MAG will fine the owner operator on each violation and amount depends on type of violations. They will give you a handout of fines at orientation.
I stress the importance of inspections because DOT loves to pick on older equipments. On my older truck, i was inspected almost every month. With my newer Cascadia, i only got a quick inspection at the scale house once in a year and that was only because i didnt close my tandems on my spread axle resulting in a fine.Ringo1 Thanks this. -

I am still doing great with MAG. Rates been good this year and dry van and flatbed rates been averaging $3+/mile to the truck. Rates are finally falling since this July. I book my own loads and negotiate my prices and lanes I run. No dispatcher to offer me loads. If you have not self dispatch before, there will be a learning curve that will affect your earnings in the beginning.
