I'am getting ready for orientation with PTL can anyone tell me if the company has become a better company to work for ? I have read many older post that give bad reviews . And it's kind of scary ...

Everybody I ever met from company to lease purchase said it was a pretty bad experience with money.

I have worked there 10 years ago. Just now coming back to trucking but PTL was the only company I had worked at. I don’t know how it is ran now but back when I was there as a cdl grad they put you with “team driver” for 30,000 miles. I had one driver who was a complete ^###### but somehow I learned more from him than any of the others because he was experienced. The rest of my drivers were newbies like me. Their trucks were automatic and you split 33cpm between two drivers. Back then we never saw over 1000-1,800 miles p/wk.

Sadly due to an event that my co driver done to me I left. I was there 3 months so I didn’t get the full experience to solo driver. But my experience was bad. I’m hoping however that should you choose them it would be a better experience for you than me.

I’m going to Prime in Springfield, Mo. Tuesday I still have my CDL-A but gotta have a refresher course. If I needed to go back to PTL I would just to see if it would be a better experience but they would not be in my top ten. The Murray terminal was ok but when they took us over to see the fleet hq operations which was like 5-10 miles from the terminal that was pretty cool.

Anytime you go out of your comfort zone it will be scary. Just make sure that it will benifet you and say to yourself it will be worth it. That’s all I can say as I’m not a veteran driver @FullMetalJacket & @Chinatown if you guys get the chance give this guy a few tips

I'm going with them for six months. I haven't heard anything good, but they'll take me. I've been driving for sixteen years but messed up by thinking the grass was greener. Get your six months in and you can go almost anywhere

I drove for ptl a few years back before going there I researched them as best I could..I did not lease on but was a company driver...at the time I had about a year as a coast to coast produce team running along with running east-west solo...I hired on with to get solo dry van experience.. I averaged around 3200 miles a week..the CPM pay wasn't great but I brought in good checks..orientation was pretty good (3 days) but they fed you very well , they'd bring in a good hot meal for lunch and a voucher at a dang good restaurant for supper...and yes I had read some of the horror stories but talked to a few drivers on the road that were happy..all I know is they treated me OK ..I ran Chicago instead of NYC.and would make the same choice now...they putty much done what they said they would...only had 1 heated discussion with my FM..I will say this I put in call to safety to try to get me some extra hrs for a drop..they checked my eld and asked me to take a 34 seems I'd been otr a month or better and was running at about 4000 miles for a few weeks..it was the right call I had just been busy and didn't realize how tired I'd become...so take it for what it's worth to you my time there was good...you'll find good and bad in most outfits...but heck I'm old so I kept my left door closed and my knees in the breeze..never caught em lying to me and my pay was always right...that means a lot to me...hope you found a good gig for yourself..? Be safe and good luck
