I have loading and unloading in - 12 plus temperatures, recently.
Can anyone suggest a warmer,
1) boot
2) gloves
and
3) coveralls?
Thanks for your reply and stay warm...

Harley sells heated gear that work off of a battery pack if that helps.

Long johns help a lot.

The high performance synthetics, especially.
Boots, I always used Carhartt insulated in winter, with wool socks on cold days.
Gloves: Get some Thermastat glove liners, and then a waterproof Thinsulate glove over that. Get the heavier Thinsulate, it allows the glove to be thinner at any given warmth. Ain't cheap, but worth it. I often had two pairs so I could have one pair under the heater or exhaust.
They make arctic weight coveralls/bibs. But they're too warm above 20° or so. Best bet is normal weight and layer underneath as needed. I prefer bibs and jacket, felt like I could move easier, and you could just throw on the jacket if you only had a vehicle or two to deal with at a stop.LBZ and brian991219 Thank this. -

For a base layer, you can't beat Under Armour Cold Gear. It's a wicker material that keeps you dry and warm. I wear 1 thermal layer over that and a winter safety jacket and I'm good. It was 0 last time I loaded and had no problems.
On legs I have the base, 1 thermal if cold enough and sweat pants. Never have any problems.
I will show you the boots I use. I bought them 1 size bigger and have never had my toes freeze.
This is the Boa mechanism. You simply push in and turn snug. To open you simply pull and they loosen. Best boots ever.
For gloves I keep about 4 pairs because they all have good points and bad points and all get wet eventually.Last edited: Jan 6, 2018
