    Get ready to hear:

    1. You just want to run illegal.
    2. You need to trip plan better.
    3. You are driving rates down.
    4. You are unsafe on paper logs.
    5. You need to adapt to the times.

If you know how to run. It won't affect you at all.
If just another tool, to use for recording your duty status. NOTHING MORE.

Its not going to make you run tired, only you can make you do that.
Its not going to make you get in an accident, stupid 4 wheelers will do that better than any one else.
It isn't going to make you sit on the shoulder of the road during an ice storm, you knew was coming if you bothered to listen to the radio weather reports.
You can still do just about anything you used to do with paper aside from a few fudgings here and there.

I think my biggest concern is for us reefer guys. Let’s say my delivery is set for 4 am but I don’t get to the receiver till 10 pm how am I supposed to dock the truck without interrupting my sleeper time.

I hated it running solo, 3 years ago. But it made me re-think a few things and adjust.

I don't know what's so bad about it. I have brokers offering me money, girls, gifts, etc. just trying to get me to haul their load instead of someone elses. Trucking has never been this good! Bring on some more useless regulations, they're great for business!

But it can make you run higher speeds than you normally run to accomplish the amount of work you need to get done but still stay with in your time frame window.
And we all know running higher speeds than you would normally run is safer.
I think fmcsa should conduct a study and show everyone how running faster is definitely safer....

Most units will allow you to drive a certain distance before it puts you on the drive line. The one my company uses its 9/10 of a mile then I here a beep and I'm switched to drive. I never actually hit any buttons to go on line 3 just start driving and the computer will do it. Once I spent the night 3 miles from consignee at a Home Depot woke up 2 hrs early (before 10 hrs was up) and drove to consignee with out it switching to drive. So I could be first in line to unload.I used trip odometer to watch distance. Every 8/10 of a mile stopped and shut truck of then it resets the computer. Now it was around 3:00am when I did this down a straight city street with a traffic light every couple blocks so it was pretty easy. As to your concern about on the receivers property you should be fine. Next time you start to roll try to figure out how far you can drive before your elog unit kicks you to drive. Also with mine you can edit everything but the drive line and no days are final till I manually approve them. Its a Quallcom unit
