Tech is wonderful but my thinking is similar to a railroad locomotive. A small engine running in one rpm to feed batteries and the traction motors at the wheels. And allow the resistor up top to dymanic dump excess power downgrade in the form of heat. You can probably get 50-100 miles to a couple of gallons in fuel. And when the battery is fed for .. 350 miles you don't need much until it's time to fill it up again. IF you were on downgrades you would have fed back to the battery pack keeping it full for the next upgrade.
You could dispose of most of the current airbraking system. Transition to magnetic braking which I think some companies are preparing to do. Add about a thousand or two pounds freight capacity.
I am a luddite. The more tech, the more I push back against it. But it is a losing battle. But I'll take it in a certain way as described here. No sitting around the charger at the truckstop waiting on it. (And paying for it.) Having to stop every 300 miles to sit and charge a while is horrifying to me.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
Nah you just charge while you sleep

This whole thread is really interesting to me as a future driver. I’m starting class in 2 weeks always been a tech junkie and love the march toward new stuff. I’m 37 years old but I guess I’ll be part of the “new wave” of drivers who will begin to see these things out there
