Lol, it's not always like this in tucson. I've been lucky last 3 times out here to be reloaded nearby. Usually it's a deadhead back to phoenix.

chopper103in, BigBob410 and Tall Mike Thank this.

I have been running and running and running.... busy and planning and checking weather... going thru snow storms... :biggrin_2552: Still alive and fine.... :biggrin_25519:
Now parked on a muddy lot next to a small fuel station on I-70 CO taking my 34 cause I have only 25 mins left from my 70 and not gaining any tonight... :biggrin_25513:

Hey Mr. @Hammer166 I hope you read this.... I forgot where that thread about winter driving and driving on icy roads is... Thank you soooo very much for all the info you have written there... definitely that has been very useful and super helpful... :biggrin_25514:

Anyway.... last Sunday I left Colby, KS at 30 mins past midnight central time... was going to near Seattle, WA... I knew would have to face snow storm all night all the way thru WY till I parked in Lyman...:biggrin_2552: but the snow was coming to Denver area and I thought, I gotta leave now or it's going to get MUCH worse and I will get stuck... So I left... snow started north of Denver and then continued... all night long... a looong "white" night with non stop snow and freezing temps... :biggrin_2552:
One or another truck out there and no four wheelers....
I kept thinking about stuff that I read in this forum... specially about winter driving... and I applied some of the things that I think folks wrote here... I kept my RPM around 16 the whole time.... stayed in 9 gear.... and it felt as the truck was holding "better" and I had more control of it... I observed the type of snow on the asphalt, looked for what could be icy patches, I could "feel" the truck and the road... :yes2557: All the tractor tires are brand new and that helped a lot... :yes2557:
In the morning I drove by almost 10 jackknifes on the median everywhere...
But I watched one or another truck that were going at 65 mph or so and holding pretty well... they seemed to know what they were doing.... and I thought about you folks, experienced drives....:biggrin_25519:
Yeah... it takes years of experience driving on snow and ice to know how to drive like that...
I learn a lot here in the forum and have been applying all that I learn out on the road... that is a PRICELESS learning experience... :yes2557: Thank you soooo much!

    Now some images...

Driving at night on that loooong snow covered lonely road... kept 55 mph most of the time...

Still very early in the morning...

Some fog... but no strong winds for a good change in WY.... :biggrin_25519:

    And then... the jackknifes... :biggrin_2552:

These are the same image... one copied from the dash cam and the other taken with my camera...
Here are two trucks crossed in the median... the red one and another one far away....

I passed about 10 or so...

Parked that day with 3 mins left from my 11... it was a loooong night driving but I was SOOOO thankful for being sound and safe! :yes2557:

There I parked in Lyman, WY...

Left again at 23:00 central time... headed to WA... going the opposite direction of the snow storm... :biggrin_25519:

Still got some snow in OR... chain laws were in effect on I-84... but I don't throw iron... :biggrin_25512: There was a guy in a pick up truck charging $40.00 per truck to put chains on their tires... But I sat next to the sign and after 1:30 hr the chain requirement was lifted and I kept on rolling...

Delivered at this place in WA...

Freakin place was so tight... could not enter where I needed because a truck on a dock and a trailer on the other were totally blocking the passage... so.... had to go out on the street, a VERY BUSY street with non stop traffic going and coming from both directions... Had to totally STOP the traffic with my HORN the whole time while I moved onto the street and turned left in order to enter the freakin building parking lot again from the other side...

...and then tried to blind side to get to dock... but nope... couldn't do it... Ohhhh... gosh... finally the truck left the place and I was able to back to my dock... what a freakin place... :angry4: It's not big enough for big trucks but big trucks keep going and coming all day looks like... and other smaller trucks too...

Left there and headed to my next shipper... On my way back on I-90 WA snow started to fall again... :angry1:

But once I left that area, I left the snow behind me... My next shipper was a farm... in the middle of the country area...

More mud and mud and mud... :biggrin_25523:

Have been "rushing" to escape from the snow behind me...
It was very windy today in WY specially near Laramie... Electronic sign said road closed for light high profile vehicles... 55 mph winds and gusty to 60 mph... :biggrin_2554: But I went thru fine...

This is all for now....
