Well, I'm at home in Burnsville - for the second time in just over a week.
The last tine I was stuck on a load and this time it is my scheduled home time.
This was my home time to get my DOT physical. A bit earlier than I had wanted by a week or so, because it backs up the schedule for the yearly physical too much. Before I know it, I will be taking the physical in December, instead of February when I first started here.
But I always do it here at home rather than simply trying to get to any terminal that gives them. It is much easier when I have a local DMV around to give them the medical card and do the self-certification.
My middle daughter, Leann, is now living here with us. It has been nice having some extra time with her.
And today is turkey day.
A nice 15 pound turkey with stuffing, and all the good stuff to go with it.
Good Night From II

I got out just before they got over 10 inches of snow, then got stuck in SD for a day because of that storm.
As I left Tuesday morning driving south on I-29 and then west on I-80 it was amazing how many cars and big rigs were littering the sides of the road. Dozens of them. There was one Swift truck in the mix.
In Sioux Falls there was not much snow and ice, but all around it was pretty bad.
Then winds going through Wyoming. But I got through just before the worst of it hit.
I've been pretty lucky this year, getting through and out just before or after things happen.
Lucky enough to get my load delivered in Salt Lake City on Wednesday so I had a whopping 1200 miles for this paycheck. And it would have been zero if the wind in WY had shut me down.
Home time starting on Thursday and getting back Sunday with a 1200 mile load, with bad weather all along the route...
And I would have taken a zero miles week if those winds had been just a little higher.
I won't push through just for the miles and money, or to make anyone happy.
There is at least one Swift truck driver that is having thoughts on that right now, because I saw that truck in the ditch just west of Omaha. -
So far I haven't even seen a snow flake this year.

It got really cold a few nights.

It's been over two weeks since the last post. What have you all been up to and where have your Good Nights been at?

People don't post in here very much anymore. I feel lonely.
I'm at the Phoenix, OR Petro on a fairly long break. I have a paper load going to central CA that delivers Monday morning. I picked it up on Friday, so lots of time on it.Rugerfan and scottied67 Thank this. -
I was at Swift for 4 years. Lately I have been thinking back on the good ole days over there.

Each has their pros and cons.

So many people bounce around just trying to find the perfect place to work, but I doubt many find it.
And I suspect the whole 'driver shortage' issue in trucking is in large part due to high turnover rates from people job hopping. Always hoping for greener pastures, then hopping again when they find the browner areas are sometimes even worse.FerrissWheel Thanks this.
