    You can clean them 50 times when the check engine light says so, but if you don't have the computer software to reset the 'clock' on the cleaning, the check engine light will still keep coming on saying the filter is dirty.

    Finally somebody that is not afraid to do something. Thank you Val77. I did pull it off had it tested to see where it was at in terms of life. Then had it blown out at a Peterbilt delership in Portland, OR. They do it on the spot and took 30 min or so and charged $150. It was worth it to find out how it is doing. I do have Cummins insite (which I think every owner operator with a Cummins should have) so I was able to reset it. But I did find out it is not hard and it is not rocket science like some of these guys think.
    Thanks again!

    @Val77 what exactly did I post that got your panties in a bunch? I didnt post a video either. I never claimed to be a mechanic. I was very amused by the simple green method of "cleaning" a dpf

    We just changed all the catalysts in our ISX and DD15 One-Box. Bought brand new ones.
    A friend of mine runs a large lumber hauling fleet and they used to get theirs baked and cleaned, but he said you only get 60% life back out of them.
    What I can't figure out is why they are $6800 for Cummins and $1600 for my Detroit?

    I have priced the ones for the ISX for $1900 at Peterbilt. $6800 is crazy.

    That's what they are up here anyway. By the time labor and some NOX sensors were added in it was almost a $13,000 job.

    Made me like the Detroit a whole lot more.

    Oh I see. Well that's a bummer. Doing a new one myself down here with new sensors, clamps, gaskets and everything is about $2500.

    Didn't realy clean my filters 50 times. All the time I've spent working on aftertreatment systems was because dealers will charge you crazy money on changing this or that and most of the time back in the Derate Mode right. At least 10 time I've heard from dealers - 7th injector, or def doser but they want to replace the 2 NoX sensors as well. Thats 2k plus 2k on top of the bill. I got fed up with the issue and had to roll up my sleeves and learn what the heck is that system. What started as a problem for me........became a passion. So tjat being sad I'm posting here because people really need help with ATS ( that hoe the whole system is called - After Treatment System) ......and the help will not be at the dealer

    @Montanajon
    Here is some places i use to buy parts. A lot cheaper and really the same brands.
    www.dieselfilters.com
    Bigmachineparts.com

    Now with reseting Cummins - lifecycle is 3 resets in those. After cleaning it out only service regen will do the job. No reset needed really

    That is the truth. I didn't find any help at the dealer except the one in Portland. But the rest of the dealers I stopped at throughout the US had no more knowledge than me about it. But it is nice to find like minded people on here who do research and figure things out. Thanks!
