    hi everyone

Looking at a reefer 53 foot in really nice condition but it has two doors on the side of the trailer also has a smaller unit in the middle i guess it regulates temperature in the back and front if you want chilled in the back you put one of those seperator things in between and you can keep the front cool and not chilled....my question is will shippers reject my trailer if they see these doors on the side and also is this unit in the middle a concern?

I dont think a shipper would have problems with that trailer. The only thing I am sure they are concerned about is if it will support a forflift. Granted the trailer probably had a past life with Agco (a now defunct smoll grocers supply company). Yet if you like having side dorrs you should be all set.

I'm sure there are a few places that may have a problem with them for whatever reason. But every now and then at some of the food producer places we pickup at, you will see a food service company's trailer spotted there as they do drop and hooks to backhaul goods back to their warehouse. But we're also talking about a valued customer of theirs picking up their own product. Hard to tell them "no, we don't want your business because we don't want to deal with your trailers. Call an outside carrier to move your goods who runs conventional reefer trailers"

So, I'm not sure what I'm trying to say other than to say, buy what you need to service your niche requirements, and be selective about the places where you may try and get additional revenue backhauls.

When I was doing food service all of our 48s had 3 side doors and the unit in the middle. 2 bulkheadss freezer-cooler-dry. Never had a problem at any of my backhauls. Heavy trailers about 20.5k empty

Most all food service companies use them, and many store supplier and grocer private trailer fleets use them, but beyond that, few use them.

It's called a "side by side" it's used for food service deliveries. We have them at GFS in 50' lengths and they get loaded all the time by real strict places the two doors on the side are no big deal there all air tight it's fine.

Back in the mid 80's ours had side doors. Made it nice when putting off 50 drops on the North east. And ever had anyone turn one away.
I always just ran with pad lock on the side door or doors. AS some people will sure open one up fast.

Usually when you pick up loads with side doors, some shippers will put a seal on each door and note it on the bills
