I can't decide!!! Prime Trucking or Jim Palmer

No one cares, don't feel obligated because of that.

 

If you plan on being a Company driver, take Palmer over Prime, lease operator, Prime over Palmer.

 

Do your time with Prime or Jim Palmer, then after you've fullfilled the obligation, move on to a line haul job with a company like Old Dominion Freight Lines or Estes Express and a few more.
UPS Freight or UPS Truckload will hire you also. They don't hire out of the warehouse for those jobs; they hire off the street. The milage pay is $ .7042 cpm plus accessorial pays.

Wil trans is owned by Prime, or was. And they haul mostly prime freight and use prime trailers sometimes. Lol neither.

 

This is rare that I would not agree with China.

In my opinion Prime is the best answer, plus if your already there finish what you started.

I have a couple of cousins that did the Prime lease that are now independents with the truck from the lease doing quite well.

 

Until you sign paper you are a free agent. The only downsides to Jim Palmer is the pay for pulling Prime loads is a few cents less per mile than pulling Prime loads for Prime. Also, Jim Palmer insurance is expensive and it's not insurance, it's a Health Savings Account. I think it takes $85 per week from your check for a single driver. I'm not sure how expensive it is for family insurance. Anyway, the cash comes out of your paycheck and into a HSA account. The cash in that account is always and only your money. With that cash you can pay for medical expenses. Any money you don't spend is yours to keep. If you leave the company the cash comes with you. It's untaxed as long as you spend it on qualified medical expenses. If you decide to spend it on a big screen TV instead you pay income taxes on the amount you spend.

Both companies give excellent training. Both companies haul Prime freight to Prime customers. Jim Palmer is like working for a small company and having big company freight and service facilities.

 

Prime does not nor ever has owned Wilson/Jim Palmer. Wilson is just a contractor to them. I worked for Palmer a few years ago, they did not have a Fontana yard then, they used the Prime yard for drops. They are a decent family to work for. I just couldnt take the On Guard and 62mph trucks anymore. But get your year on and then head to greener pastures.
