I do not understand what the dm's are thinking drivers that do not chain up need to be fired.
WTF it is not their drivers license, life, others life on the line when they want us to drive in the ice and snow.
Everyone needs to grab their dm and make them live in the truck for a week or so then their aditudes may change for a little while.
When you hit ice / snow have the dm hop out and chain that truck up now that would be some funny s***.
I would bet they would never tell you to chain up and drive again and if they did all you would have to say is well if you come out throw the chains on the truck correctly I will continue to drive,
Now we know the dm's would not be able to get the chains on corectly so we would not have to move the truck.
Even if they did know how to properly chain up the truck by the time they would reach you the roads would be in better shape and you would no longer need chains.
I would only drive during the days when the sun is out that way most of the ice would be gone.

I have never had a company I worked for tell me that I had to chain up the truck. But I have had loads that where chain required loads, or don't accept them.
Since you are in charge of the truck it is your call to chain or not but it is usually what drivers do while they are driving with chains on that gets them into trouble. Not that they decide to chain that got them into trouble.
For me chaining gets me out of the snow zone and I prefer it to sitting in the snow zone. -
They are liars,my husband works for them out of Dallas and they have dont nothing but lie and cheat him.He brings home if we are lucky bout 400 a week and he works his ### off. They will tell you that you wil be making 900 a week, yeah right. They dont have alot of freight, they leave you sitting if not for days at a time but for 23 hours so they dont have to pay you for that day. They also will dispatch your load out from under neath you even if you are on your way to get it.Also each terminal is for its self, and no such thing as a preplan. You will not get another load til you are empty and just hoping that they got you at least something so you can leep moving or you will be sitting for another 23 hours or more to wait for them to find you freight.Hope you like the cold in the winter and the heat in the summer cause your truck may not idle, they have the idle control which will shut your truck off. Also there truck only goes bout 62 miles a hour. They also lie about the amount per mile you make, your lucky to get 20 cents or so a mile, the more miles you run the less money you make, they call it a sliding scale, uh huh.So if you and your family want to starve like my family is doing then I say go to work for Knight...And they say they have regional runs haha. yeah right.Hope you like staying out and not makin money you might get to come in every two weeks if they have freight that is coming by your house.Oh yeah one last thing, you will get paid per deim, good luck they screw you on that too, you will be makin less money by being on that.If you drop you trailor at the yard or have to leave it, you better cross your fingers that you are able to find another one. They are LIARS>.....They got to many truck s and not enough freight.

He chose per diem, it cant be forced on a driver, only way I would take per diem is if I was single, and didnt have a mortgage. And 20 cpm???? He needs to move on if thats all he is getting. I am brand new and getting 30 for all miles. Why doesnt he find another company to drive for? Especially if he has some experience. No way I would stay anywhere making 400 a week.
-
He makes more than 20 cpm. The rest of his pay is paid as a "reimbursed expense." Per Diam is a screwy mess. They put me on it automaticaly but the next week I was off of it after getting the form faxed to me and sending it to Phoenix.
As for the 400 dollars a week. Yea it's like pulling teeth, the only solution is to quit and find a new job. Knight doesn't have the freight for the trucks so get out and do what's best for you. For more and more drivers daily that "right" sure isn't Knight. -
He never signed any forn that asked he wanted on per diem.He has requested to be off it to three different people and they kept telling him they will take care of it.Then he found out he hadd to go to the phoenix office, that was by talking to another truck driver who had been stuck on it.Does anyone have to gripe to get there down pay when they dont have freight for you? I think they need to hire someone who knows how to get more freight. If you got trucks keep them moving..Right?So are there any trick s any of you can tell me to tell him?He so loves to drive a truck but not for almost free.DOES anyone make 900 at knight? Thanks

Anytime, or perhaps I should say every time, because that is what it is with Knight, he has a payroll problem, he needs to call payroll in Phoenix. There is no one else who can help him, (unless things have changed a great deal,) and all they will do is "shine him on."
My wife, (who did all my book keeping,) was on the phone with payroll in Phoenix #### near every week. They always treated her with respect, and she was able to get stuff corrected.
IMHO one of the ways that Knight makes money is by screwing the drivers who do not have the common sense to CHECK THEIR PAYROLL RECORDS! Since the "mistakes" are ALWAYS in favor of the company, rather than the driver, you just know that this is what they are doing. -
Payroll has always fixed the few errors they have made on my pay. One call and they always fix it right there on the spot with you on the phone. However lately I haven't been giving them much work. As a good hard working employee of a few years they can't give me any miles ? Everybody is quick to point out that Knight is debt free and financially strong. That is great but should I tell my land lord and other creditors that and then all will be well ? Excuses do not pay my bills and from this drivers seat Knight is a failure. It sucks though a few years of hard work and this is how they pay a driver back. Aw well I knew this company had a flaw and I think I found it.

my husband worked for Knight because he liked their Trucks. however they have no school and he wanted to get me driving, but they wouldn't let me team with him unless I had 4 monthes experience. Knight talked him into "per diem" we starved and went homeless. now we are at Prime. they are letting him train me and the pay is a lot better. The company also treats us better. my husband called Knight the other day and they asked "when are you coming back?" when he told them how much he is making now,the call was dropped! as for the chaining up , he wouldn't take those loads. he was tough on dispatch, but he always was treated respectfully even when he would tell them off.
Baack Thanks this. -
Why do Prime drivers troll the internet looking for places to insert their success stories ?
