The pay is 41.cpm which isn't great. They pay PC miler shortest. Detention or layover forget about it. Their insurance is not the best and they have forced per diem. Dispatch is horrible. They don't communicate well and will tell you one thing and it be another. Backhaul dispatch might as well not be there. They have some nice trucks and a lot of junk. If you work there you will be in Junk for a long time. And I mean junk like a 2004 379 that's had 20 different company drivers. Hasn't been cleaned in 10 years and has 2 million miles on it. With junk trucks comes a lot of downtime waiting on shops. Their maintenance is lacking to say the least. Their trailers are the worst. They do not have their trailers on a PM schedule and most of them spend their life going from one meat plant to the next. A lot of broken and missing lights, bad tires, etc. Reefer doors on the front torn off. It all stems from a lack of maintenance. Not a very pro driver environment. The turnover is high and the office is not the friendliest. Their only draw is they do have some nice gilders. There are a lot of companies especially in Iowa that have nice trucks and pay a lot better. If you have to have a long noise pete I would suggest you looking for a better outfit then Monson.
Monson and sons review.

How much can that be the drivers fault?

O I am sure there is some blame to put on drivers. Some of the drivers they attract think there mechanics so you know how that goes. But a company should keep up on schedule maintenance on their trailers. They also shouldn't advertise 2015 and 2016 Gliders then put you in a 2004 379 that had been through the works.
