Honda eu3000IS

Ebay shows what looks like a filter-strainer on the fuel shut off valve. It appears to screw into the fuel tank as I mentioned on the 5.5's but they have no valve there. I had a 5.5 that would shut off. R&R the cap, choke it and it would start and run again. Problem was the screen where the fuel line connects to the tank. The tank and screen had been cleaned out twice. Replace the screen. It also had also had a screen where fuel is poured in the tank. Just my experience.

 

I use an eu2000i or eu3000i from time to time. I believe on those the gas caps are vented but have a valve to close the vents to prevent gas spillage during transport. I forgot to open the valve on mine one time and after a couple hours it started surging and eventually stalled. Could be your vent in the cap is starting to plug up.

 

Just take the cap off and put it back on every few hours if you can. That will answer that question.

 

I think that may be the problem there, as stated above.

I tried running an auxiliary tank on a EU2000 and ran into various problems.

 

I’d imagine that would kill it dead, rather than cause surging. How old/how many hours on unit?

 

ethanol mix with the gasoline, is or has deteriorated your fuel lines. i'd have the fuel lines checked for cracking, and hardening. i had to replace all the fuel lines on all 3 of my snow removal equipment and my garden tiller.

i went and bought an additive that combats the ethanol. can't remember the name, got it at advanced auto parts store, stuff is in a clear bottle and the stuff is blue. says right on the label, it takes care of ethanol.

be sure too, that you use the highest octane gasoline. in ALL my small engined things, i use no less than 92 octane.

 

are you using recommended oil for Honda? usually any correct viscosity oil work, but many times, specific factory oil have additives shelf oils do not have for their engines
