There's some employee drivers in specialized at TMC that do far better than most owner-ops. Takes a while to work your way up into specialized, but the option is there if you got the stuff. Lease op isn't all it's cracked up to be but you should work a few years as an employee driver first. Hell. You might not even like trucking after you've tried it 6 months. As an employee driver, you just walk away. No harm, no foul.
Use that employee driver time to learn the trade and speak with other drivers at other carriers as you go from shipper to receiver and meet others from other competitor companies.JLH5978, Metallica88, QuietStorm and 3 others Thank this. -

I did flatbed briefly, can’t say I liked it much.
1. It’s VERY difficult to tarp when you take on bat form, and they ladies like a sharp dressed bat!
2. Everyone is so sweaty in flatbed. Ever bite a sweaty neck? It’s like licking a salt block.
3. Checking that load every 150 miles or three hours really cuts into a nosferatu’s required sleep time.JLH5978 Thanks this. -
Just be prepare to tarp every load with TMC. They provide a set of heavy 8' drop tarps around 120lbs. Many of their loads are tarp. Too bad they dont provide a set of 4' tarps too. As a new driver, i highly recommend that you do not jump into a lease purchase deal until you get a lot more experience since not completing the lease will affect your credit. Which in turn limit your future finance options.

TMC lease isn't something they just let anyone do. You generally have to meet a minimum amount weekly for several months at a time without dropping below it. If i recall, it's not a full on lease, as the tmc financing side will finance the truck, give you terms like a normal bank note, tmc will take the payments out of your settlements. They do make monthly notations to the credit bureaus, and after several months you are free to leave withthe truck so long as the payments are continued to be made. They will accept the truck back if you want out, however they will ding you credit for it, and you will lose you're down payment if you made one. I know of several guys over there that are doing really well, then i know of a few who failed miserably.
