I did the engine oil and coolant but the rest when the truck is on the rack and the mechanic was under there, he would pull the samples.
I have something else to add, I never ever trust anyone when I buy a truck. I don't mean to be an **** about things but I am paying $30k to $100k for a tool and I have to do the work to make sure it will work for me. I stress that you take the truck and pay for these things, if the truck fails, if you want it so bad, offer what it really is worth.
Example. I bought a WS 4900 a while back. It looked great in the ad and in person too, clean one owner truck and the owner was proud that he had everything done on paper and did some of the work himself. He was asking $65k for the truck. I had a dyno done, it produced 65% of the rated HP, the blowby was low and alright but it struggled. Then there was the issue with the clutch that the mechanic caught and when I pulled the records from the dealer, there were a few things in it that indicated engine problems. So I added up the cost to fix the problems, pretty much came to $27k so that was subtracted and then there was issues of tires and alignment so on. I came up with an offer for it at $32k, he laughed and I left. About three weeks later he called me to ask if I was willing to buy it at $40K and I said nope $30k, he said "wait it was $32 that you offered before" and I said well I offered that when I was there, but it cost me two grand to go there and back (travel, housing, food and testing costs) and I then added if I hang up and you call again it will be $25k. He said ok $30k cash. I got the truck, put it on the road in three weeks and it lasted more than 760k of use under ownership.

Excellent advice and thank you for your real life example of how this type of thoroughness and standing your ground can pay off.

Who would be liable for any damages if thing go south while performing dyno test ?
-
Ain't my problem, I tell the owner I am going to take it for a dyno and tell them if something breaks, it isn't my problem. I never had an issue with either a no or a problem with the dyno.
I have a freind who said one owner was so upset that it was going to be checked out. He passed but then ran across the guy who bought the truck at the carrier he was leased to, the guy dumped $20k into the engine to keep it going, he had it for a week and it too a huge crap in the middle of texas.Lepton1 and Final Drive Thank this.
